Not bad, for a CW show, but I really don’t like that costume.
How about to be true to the source material which existed before any of those shows you listed? For crying out loud, calm down.
Well that is different. I'm just sick of shows throwing in a gay character just for the sake of it, especially in these DC shows. Hopefully they won't make Thunder and her g/f have the Alex/Maggie relationship.
Well im in for this....first episode has been much better than legends and arrow and recent episodes of flash for me.
Hopefully the show rides this success for the rest of the season
I just hope the season isn't too long since I want iZombie ona lready.
Agreed, this show starts out with the gritty reality that we don't see so much of in the other CW series, just a criminal element or two... but not revolving around the uglier side of some lives.
I love the actor they've chosen, always liked him in other things, the outfit could use some color imho, but good special effects so far too.
Even if you never heard of BL (I only know the animated ones) for this series, you understand why he left and why he knows he has no choice but to come back... it's an ugly job, and he has to do it.
Putting on my DVR list for sure.
i'm already predicting at some point in this season there will be an episode titled "Black Lights Matter" or something similar as the writers try to prove they're 'edgy.'
Saw it. Will watch more. However I do think the light up parts of his costume are really stupid. Have fun trying to Batman it when your enemies can see you in dark rooms.
Watched the first episode. I've seen enough. I'm done with it.
They show him turning the lights off at the end of the episode as he walks off the roof. The lights are there more as a place for them to shoot at. Better at the light up armored chest than the head.
I decided to give this show a shot and I liked it a lot more than I thought I would.
I thought it'd be filled with more boring tropes, but I liked LaLa and like others said, a hero coming out of retirement. Not discovering his/her powers.
Well it's official, i'm only watching the Flash so I don't miss a episode of BL.
I could do without the pointless sex scene, but other than that and some obnoxious music, it was pretty solid. I really hope they do some good stuff with James Remar in this show, as he doesn't seem to get enough credit at times. The scene between him and the ex-wife was well done.
Can't say I'm surprised the cops are paid for by the white gangster dude. I just hope this ends up being a plot point in the show.
Tobias Whale is albino.
though in the comics he's literally white as in chalk skinned
The character of Steven Mandragora in Justice League Unlimited was basically supposed to be him, but they ran into legal issues so they changed his name.
I almost fell asleep during the second episode.
That's an interesting tidbit. Didn't know that.
They actually found a real albino actor for this role in Marvin Jones III and didn't have some random big guy do whiteface. Now, that's sticking to the source material!
Just watched the second episode last night -- I think it's getting better, but that suit is still terrible. My wife keeps saying the lightning design on the chest looks like glowy puffy paint.
I stopped watching all CW DC shows save Gotham, so I am not having high hopes about this one... might check it after a season has ended to see what it turned out like.
Don't forget he also showed up in several episodes of Beware the Batman. Between him and all the Outsiders stuff, I was expecting Black Lightning to show up.
He may have been planned for a later season, but Beware didn't make it past the 1st.
I forgot about him in that one, I have the Bluray, but rarely watch it. The old JLU stuff holds up better long term.
