I finally got around to watching this. And once we (my roommate and I) started, we couldn't stop. With only two more episodes left to watch from the second season, I am sad that it will end. This is definitely one of my favorite animes of all time, right up there with Stand Alone Complex. I really, REALLY hope that they continue it one day. I read that it is difficult because the manga, which it closely follows, is a monthly rather than a weekly. A forum I was reading said that animes that usually take a year or two hiatus tend not to come back. It's a crime, especially with all the open plots.
It's really one of the better manga turned anime's I've seen in past several years. For a bunch of mercenaries they end up very interesting characters and the story lines seem to push the envelope with adult themes quite well. I'm hoping that Rei Hiroi churns out enough manga for a Third Barrage.
Well, the You're Under Arrest anime series has just been revived for a 3rd season last year (ongoing from Oct 07) The Last YUA made before that was an OVA in 2002. Maybe that gives a little bit of hope for more Black Lagoon later on down the track?
Man I hope so. They had to know what kind of timeline it was going to be when they started the project. And I would hope that they wouldn't have gone into it without planning to finish what they started.
I was going to ask about this today, I love me some HK Heroic Bloodshed and I just read that this is a good show to check out if your into that sort of thing. Would I be correct in assuming that above posts indicate that the internets haven't lied to me?
A friend of mine nicknamed the show 'Stuff happens' and described it as 'It's like someone decided to make the most awesome action movie ever made up of a bunch of awesome 30 minute action movies." I liked it, if just because Revy's the hottest sociopath I've ever watched, and she's one of the nominal 'good guys'. The story lines are fun too, although I much prefer the 1st season. The 2nd season was just WAY to dark for me, what with the Hansel and Gretel arc, and the end of the Yakuza arc. As for a third season...I'd like it if one happened, but I think season 2 ended in a good way for the series. it doesnt really need any continuation as there's not really any ongoing plot threads. Is the manga series even stil going in Japan?
As far as I have read, yes it is. I really loved the Yakuza arc, as it really developed Revy's and Rock's relationship, and cemented that Rock wanted to be one of the bad guys. But the Hansel and Gretel arc was just beyond wack. But I appreciate the show for not being afraid to do it.
"Rock attracts the gaze of Revy, having just won her respect after grabbing her by the tit in a fit of anger."
