Firstly, just to show how far CBR has fallen, that was not a New 52 comic. It came out years before the New 52. It spun out of the COMIC 52, not the New 52 reboot. I mean, right in their article, they say it The Dark Age was a 2007 comic, which it was. The New 52 happened in 2011, idiots. And secondly, it wasn't very good. Johns built Black Adam into a great character, and then pissed it away completely in WWIII. Dark Age spins out of that story which ruined the character.
Adam is more of an anti-hero since the early 2000s. He has harsh methods to deal with crime and he can be merciless, but he truly wants his country to prosper. He is not a tyrant like Doom. Well at least before 52 and Countdown when writers played "how can we make his life more miserable" and killed everyone they loved, decimated his country and turned him into a mass-murderer. All this done by Sivana mostly which never made sense to me, surely he hates Captain Marvel more?
Dwayne Johnson Congratulates SHAZAM! Star Zachary Levi And Reveals BLACK ADAM's Targeted Film Date Taking to Instagram, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson delivered a "very big package of gratitude" for fans helping to make Shazam! "a really big success around the world- the box office success is very healthy and robust, and I want to say thank you to you guys for helping make us #1. It's great that the critics love the movie, it's awesome that we're at 92 or 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, which again, is always awesome." Johnson goes on to say that he's most thankful for the response from the audience before stating that the film had a difficult production as it was initially struggling to tell 2 origin stories (for Black Adam and Shazam!) before the decision was made to spinoff Black Adam into his own solo film. Johnson goes on to state that Black Adams is a project that's "been in his DNA" for nearly 10 years and that cameras should start rolling in "about a year."
Black Adam: Dwayne Johnson Likens His DC Character to Superman "Black Adam has the same powers as Superman," declared Johnson in a backstage interview with MTV. "Think about that! That's why it's so cool and exciting." This means nothing unless Johnson and Cavill fight.
Johnson's been teasing that fight from day one. Unless Cavill really is done (and I don't believe he is) it'll happen. Though Johnson has mentioned it probably won't be in the same film Black Adam is introduced in.
Black Adam producer teases character's 'journey' from villain to antihero in film update Producer Hiram Garcia provided an update on the film's production (which has not yet finalized a costume design) that's all about the character arc of its central superhero/villain. Black Adam started off as a corrupt, exiled version of Captain Marvel, aka Shazam, but that's not where his story ended in the comics. His present form is far more interested in a certain sense of justice ... just not the goodie-two-shoes Superman brand of it. Garcia explained that fans are "going to meet a character who's going through a journey." "He was created as a villain," Garcia said. "And through the love of the fans and through some great writers and storytellers, he evolved into an antihero ... But we understand that there's been many aspects to Black Adam through him. But ultimately this is a guy who, he does have a moral compass, as skewed as it may be. And ultimately he is a guy that everything has always been driven by his family and what happens to them, and he is never opposed to unleashing hell when you cross him." "He's not just justice for all," Garcia told ComicBook.com. "And he's not just a villain. This is a guy who's complex, who's had many things happen to him, and that all shows in his actions. So this is a guy who's going through a journey. He will find himself, but where it goes, you guys will have to find out." And as far as the look of the antihero? Well, they're working on it.
BLACK ADAM Taps JOKER & GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS Cinematographer Larry Sher Larry Sher has come aboard the project as cinematographer. Sher's previous credits include The Hangover trilogy, Paul, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and Joker. He also did additional photography for The Rock's upcoming Jungle Cruise movie.
BLACK ADAM Star The Rock Confirms JSA; Hawkman, Atom Smasher & Stargirl Expected To Appear While speaking to Screen Rant, star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was asked about the possibility of his character throwing hands with Shazam, and while the actor hinted that their face-off was being saved for a later adventure, he did seemingly confirm that the movie would "introduce the world to JSA."
Odd that he is bald. I thought Adam always had that close-cropped hair like Amazo. Also, didn't he have Vulcan ears too? But yeah Dwayne Johnson was born to play the role.
Just make him closer to the pre52 character. They really screwed him up with the new52 stuff. The ears have come and gone over the years.
I can't wait! The JSA is one of my favorite superhero teams of all time. Hope they get their own film.
Oh good lord, not that Earth 2 crap. Give me the JSA from just before the new 52, a mix of old and new and in the same reality as the rest of the DC cinematic universe. The old guard, Sentinel, Jay Garrick and Wildcat with younger, legacy characters. Hawkman/Hawkwoman (Carter and Sheira Hall), Mr. Terrific, Power Girl, etc. I'd kill for a version of that.
You expect them to do the good version? most likely not, in modern Hollywood?, nope expect Alan Scott to be LGBT and to state it several times for no apparent reason.Several characters will be race swapped, and likely have costumes that look very little like the comic version.
