I bought Classics Sideswipe some time back (more or less a little after he was first released) and everything on him was perfect, but I quickly noticed his right front tyre was very stiff and didn't roll at all. Closer examination revealed that he'd actually been mistakenly built with a rear tyre (slightly thicker) in place of a front one... WTF? I'd ignored the problem this long, but now it's beginning to bug me. Is there a way to fix that at all? Can that wheel assembly be safely dismantled so I can at least sand/cut it down? I'd really rather not have to scour eBay for a new one. Also, has anyone else seen that defect on any other Classics Sideswipes (or Sunstreakers)? I ran a quick search here and didn't find any other instances of this truly strange QC issue...
This is a case for the Radicons section I believe. They could help out more over there with you Tire Problem.
If you have a dremel, you could probably shave off some of the inside of the tire to create some clearance. Only other option I can think of at the moment is finding a way to pull that pin out slightly to give you the space necessary. Is it that big of an issue though? It doesn't affect bot mode in any way, right?
Perhaps, honestly I wasn't sure exactly where it'd be more appropriate, as QC issues go here, but repair/mods go in customs. Though to tell the truth, the reason I made the thread was more to see if anyone else knew about/has seen this kind of defect on this mould. Fixing it was a secondary issue. Either way, I'll let the mods make the call. To Kusanagi, it really doesn't affect the bot mode at all. In fact, it looks fine in vehicle mode too, the only real inconvenience it that is doesn't roll properly (which is why I put up with it so long). Honestly, it's really something I can ignore (as he'll be displayed in bot mode) but I figured I'd see if it can be easily fixed.
Wow, that is an odd QC issue. If I'm remembering it correctly, there was an issue with Ironhide's tires too, was there not? Or at least one person had an issue with Ironhide having a rear tire in the front...or I could just have imagined it all in a post-work stress stupor...
The rear tire (can't remember which exactly) on my Sideswipe is stiff and won't roll on its own like the others. If you have a soldering iron, you can apply heat to the pin (BE CAREFUL NOT TO MAKE CONTACT WITH THE SURROUNDING PLASTIC) and try popping it off to get a better look at what's keeping it from moving.
Here's the link to pin/rivet removal in the Radicons forum. It's helped me out a lot! Thanks, Redline! http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/tutorials-how-tos/214537-how-remove-pins-rivets.html
