Aw, sweet! I didn't know TFW had a BIONICLE thread!!!

That's an Av- Matoran head; released at the same time as the Phantoka, so those masks should work.

'01 Toa masks, however, don't, as the Av-Matoran head has only a plus rod connection.

The Mata, Matoran, and Metru heads all have plus-axles with special grooves to place the old Mata masks on. The Av-Matoran head only has the plus-axle connector.

We also have a social group, but it's kinda on the decomposing side.

All the cool kids come here.

More specifically, the Mata masks mount function like regular Lego studs. This meant that the mask could be dislodged for competative play. (that's what the gear gimmick is for, knocking off masks) However they were phased out about 2003, with Takanuva and Makuta who brought about plus-rod connections (signifying their increased in-story durability) and became standard with the Toa Metru.

TFW has a Bionicle Thread ?. Wow, considering They along with Transformers are my two greatest interests ever, I'm surprised I never noticed it.

Unfortunately no, but it's exactly what it sounds like. It's just a lego stud, minus the little "LEGO" written on it.

Yup yup, that was the entire point of the masks in the first place, and why even the Rahi had masks, and why every figure had some kinda of attacking gimmick.

    The more the merrier.

Which reminds me, I never did take pics of Takanuva. I should, probably tomorrow.

IIRC, When you knocked off the masks on the Muaka and Kane-Ra sets, their lim bs fell off.

Yup. And on the Manas, kocking off a mask would immobilize one of the motors.

Oh, an BTW, things with that seller finally worked out, the set arrived, and I now have complete Toa Metru. Only problem is his Proto Pitons are stressed the fuck. I might have to replace them.
