These are beyond cool! That second one especially is so unique, with the head being hung from above and the big tube arms. Very creative!

    Haul March 2024 3.jpg

Raanu is the last small [standard retail] set I needed. So, so close to finishing those now... Just 4 technic-based sets left. Still undecided when I'll get around to the playsets.

Got a handful of more Kraata this month as I also debate how hard I want to go in completing those. I know it's going to be a real chore.

Kahu's the first of the 01 Rahi combo models I've finished and one I hadn't built before but always had wanted because of MNOG. I still think it's looks good all these years later and they way they did the wings was really cool.

I've truly finished the Master Build Rahi as I got the parts needed to make the Fikou there. But as it's now my 3rd, has lost some charm lol.

What I really went in on this month though are polybags. So many good opportunities to get the real deal - sealed in bag still, all of them! We all know they just aren't very good lol, but still a charm to how silly some of them are. Of ones we can confirm released, I think I only need 3 more now, although will probably get the parts to build the rest too at some point.

That reminds me, I still need to make Pewku. I just haven't decided if I want to base her look off the original Master Builder Ussal or the MoL movie.

I've seen some pretty rad MOCs that blend the two:

Ooh I really like that last one. Always preferred her yellow and blue original colors.

Here's my Pewku that I whipped up. I didn't have any suitable yellow pieces for the legs on hand, but I plan to remedy that in the future.

Just can't stop myself now with these collectibles. Still a surprising amount of Kanoka to get but only 1 Rhotuka. And yet it's almost disheartening to see just how many Kraata I got then look at the checklist and realize it's just a drop or two in the bucket and there's still a crazy amount to go.

Finished the first G2 combo model and unofficial build to join my collection. I tried to get Mask Maker Makuta as close as possible to the physical model shown off for the building contest years ago instead of just aping Ekimu. I'm not entirely satisfied with what I settled on, but they really did something just bizarred with the shoulders from what can be made out. If only they'd supplied a back shot...
What we did have plenty of references for was the Shadow Titan form though, and what a beast it is! The torso has a lot of probably needlessly complex components and mine struggled some to stand, but other than those I can't really complain too much. His presence is just something else.

The Cendox has me once more regretting passing on the vehicles way back when as it's another really unique build that's fun to play with. And in my favorite color to boot. At least I'm finally appreciating the Glatorian era now.

And some tiny cute Rahi because you can't have enough of those.

A late arrival (I literally took pictures and then it arrived so had to set them all back up again lol) was the yellow and red Bad Guy polybag. Yet another I got MISB and while technically not the last where that's possible, it's the last I really consider probable because the 2 QUICK ones left don't look like they've sold sealed in ages. So I might well be done with the polybags now, but maybe one day that could change. Anyway, I wish I'd been able to get him sooner because this is probably the best one of this style lmao. Having 2 hands helps tremendously, he looks like a complete build and is a pretty fun little gremlin to play with

    Holy shit I did it.

After not seemingly being sold sealed for years, both of these popped up from different sellers (one of whom had over 100!) within a day of each other.

All released polybags are finally mine.

Alright, here's the full month's haul!

    Haul May 2024 4.jpg Haul May 2024 5.jpg

Still going through collectibles slowly but surely. Actually got my last Rhotuka variant! And yup, I picked up a box of the Zamor ammo pack because I just thought it'd be fun lol. Also, one of those Kraata is weird. I'm fairly positive the last one on the right is actually tri-colored...

Built quite the menagerie of combiner Rahi. The 06 Matoran combos are still in my mind probably the best there are from the small sets, I just love them. The others aren't bad though, I'm even surprised by how much I like the Swamp Stalker. A crocodilian Rahi is just pretty unique I guess.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Akamai Nuva still feels too similar to the original to be all that exciting. Never much cared for the Kaita Nuva. And another boring combo in the Kranua. Why couldn't they have at least included an eye piece from one of the Vahki? That head looks so daft on it.

The Kaxium brings me nearly done with all mainline technic sets and is just another really solid vehicle.

Piraka Fusion joins my ranks of fan creations and is probably the best I've made so far.

But of course the things I'm still most excited about are those QUICK promo sets. Still can't believe I got them so soon after convincing myself it wasn't going to happen.

Even as kids me and my friends made changes to Akamai’s design just to make it less standard. We usually rotated the chest armour sideways and added a third upside down one mounted onto the brown torso’s pelvis to give him a cool chest piece that made it look more like one solid torso and not just three.

The Piraka Fusion is great and is one of those fan builds that is just so inspired.

So, how much longer until we find out if that "Bionicle returns in 2025" rumor hold any weight?

Personally I'm hoping for none given how LEGO completely fucked their handling of G2.

Honestly same. After G2 I would doubt Lego’s commitment to a proper Bionicle reboot universe, which is a shame given how they clearly can devote time and effort to brands like Ninjago.

Id love to be proven wrong, but at this point I think I’d rather Bionicle just be left to rest.

They couldn't even get to the planned 3rd year.

To put in perspective of how bad a job that is, Gen 1 was planned for a 20 year run and made it pretty much half way before retailer fatigue made them call it.

There was also the plan to spin off constraction into it's own company that LEGO almost proceeded with.

    I wish they had.

The fact that Lego made the call to can G2 halfway through the first year, before they could even really get a grasp on how well it was doing, shows how little they even cared.

Id be worried “G3” would be a similar pan flash. It’s still strange to me how Bionicle, a series revered for its universe and story, was rebooted with all the depth of a puddle and deliberately avoided properly naming over half its cast and actually coming up with any sort of nomenclature for its setting.
