So I finally got all of the Toa, ending it with Pohatu, and I modded him to have the gear driven legs of the original. Mainly stripped off parts from the Protector of Stone, taking his leg armor and armor add-ons to make the foot additions. Any thoughts on what I did?

That pelvis is just so awkward...

    It's basically a well-done t-boner.

Quick question- was there ever an explanation why they changed the connecter pins from black and gray to red, blue and tan?

Not officially that I know of, but I just deal with Bionicle, and that change was made to Lego as a whole.

My guess is some bullshit about making them easier to identify, since Lego's all about pandering to young builders.

While I prefer the older colors, I do find that the newer colors make building easier, which is strange, as I never had a problem with older sets.

I guess it also helps with older builders that can't easily tell black axle-pins from black 2-length axles.

Except when you're holding the pieces it's easy to tell.

*Shrugs* It's just more convenient for building the set, I guess (separate the parts, black pins away from blue 3-long pins, red 2-long axles, yadayada).

Not so convenient if you use the sets as parts packs, though.

LEGO's done a good job hiding those parts recently.

Then you have sets like Onua and Protector of Earth, while good, have red crosses all over their backsides. It doesn't bother me much now that they've done the whole color-switch a long time ago, but I can still see why people complain about it.

Oh man, I remember Exo-force! It wasn't the most spectacular thing Lego ever made by any stretch of the imagination, but it was the first time since Life on Mars that they did mechs (as far as I can recall).

Alpha Team 2004 did mechs to an extent (more like walkers), but now we're getting sidetracked.
