The first few episodes I watched really pissed me off. I didn't feel it was a fair portrayal of the 'Nerd'. But... I really got into it over time. And now its one of my favorite shows.
I wish they toned down the relationship factor and focus more on the nerdy indulgences. But otherwise Sheldon, Howard, Raj, Penny and Amy are great fun character.
I still love the show, and am 100% on board with the additions of girlfriends being added as main cast characters. They needed to do something like, otherwise the show would have just become boring & redundant. The only complaint I have is that I'm tired of Raj being the the Fez (That 70's Show) of this group. They NEED to do something with him this season.
I'll be ok with the relationships if one of them proposes with a Green Lantern ring. Otherwise, the relationships need to be toned down a little and the nerdy stuff needs to be the central focus more.
It's a show I always wanted to see (along with How I Met Your Mother) but I just can't keep track of the showtime. I'll probably buy/rent all the season DVDs one day and watch it that way. I was able to catch the first two episodes on the rerun channel and like it a lot so it's definitely a show I'll love if I watch it consistently.
My female cousin & her family enjoy this show. I tried to watch a few episodes but I didn't like it. .
Now that Howard and Bernadette are married, I hope the relationship stuff starts taking more of a backseat again.
I watch it when ever I can. Mom and dad saw the Happy kitty song on a t-shirt once and now I am going to keep an eye out for it. I think that is a cute little song.
I'm pretty sure there's an old thread on this somewhere. The first few seasons (probably 1-3) were what made me love this show. It's been a long time since I've laughed that much at a TV show. I was constantly cracking up. Season 4 was pretty good but more hit and miss as they added more relationship stuff. I always favor the more "nerd culture" based episodes by far. I haven't watched any of season 5 (I typically wait for my library to get the DVDs and check them out that way) but I might have to skim through and see which episodes might appeal to me.
I was curious to what happened with that. I haven't caught a lot of new episodes, and the last thing I recall was the two of them in turmoil and I thought they broke up. But, that's the problem with re-runs, you have no fraking clue what is in order. Anywho, I love the show, but I gotta get all the dvds just to get everything in order. I didn't realize til only a couple months ago why Sheldon had a issue with Will Wheaton.
Yep, I thought so too... http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/movies-television/171372-big-bang-theory-appreication-thread.html?highlight=Big+Bang+Theory
I think this show is great, and Dr. Cooper cracks me up so much. We have the series so far on DVD, and we'll get season 5 this week. Dr. Cooper getting the autographed napkin is probably the most I've laughed at a scene on a sitcom ever. We've probably seen every episode of seasons 1-4 five times at least. Quoting them is good fun. Also, I think Amy's character is great and is acted out wonderfully. I do prefer the ditzier Penny from the very early episodes, as she seemed more realistic. I'll still contend that she would have never dated Leonard.
My only problem with the show is Amy farrah Fowler. It's like the writers thought "hey people like Sheldon, what if we added a female Sheldon?" She just comes across to me as annoying and forced which is sad since her acctress is very good.
