Anyone remember them? I recently dug out the arena, and was surprised to see that all my Beyblades were still in it. We even have the old video game for the playstation. Might play it soon.
Well...I remember it was the "Bakugan" of 2000-2005. I also remember how the TV shows likes to exaggerate things and make everything too over dramatic.
I liked the show at first, but then it started to get ridiculous, and quite boring. Here are some pics of what I have: These two are knockoffs:
It was all like: "Nooo! I lost a childrens tops game! I'm totally inferior! Nooo! No he gets to take the plastic tab that has nothing to do with functionality at all, off my top! I have to go be angsty for a year and then come back all bad butt and crap!"
I was into it when it was first released. The show was interesting in the first series but the 3d in the second series was so boring to watch. I had some fake uber metal ring that made mine near indestructable. Good times.
Sums it up nicely. The same rule could be applied to Yu-Gi-Oh!. If you lose a card game, you just lose. Nothing else.
I never really played the game before, is there any real difference between the ones you have, or do they all have the same functionality?
Some have different 'gimmicks'. like the dark green ones (Draciel) have ball bareings on the base or some have engines. they also have different 'tips' on their base which changes the type of blade they are (attack, defense etc). The weight disc also changes how resist it is or how fast it goes and some arenas are made especially for the magnet weight disc (magnets below the stage you can rearrange to your heart's content). The bigger ones are electronic and arent any good at all. Hasbro also released remote control blades of I think Dragoon and Dranzer from the second series. those were quite fun though they can go on forever so not really fun to battle against.
I want to get the Magnetic arena and the Engine Gear arena. I only have the one shown, which is very basic. I never really understood how some of the inner parts worked, such as the small metal disc inside most of them, and the ball bearings on Draciel. Still, they are quite fun.
I have some. When my family and I were younger, we were playing with them, and my little sister got too close to one, and they had metal, which meant that it cut her skin. After that, we never really played with them anymore.
Ah, yes. One time, I was watching my brothers battle. One of them was plastic, but the other one was a metal version. When the metal one hit the plastic one, the plastic one flew out of the stadium, and hit me in the face.
Cartoon was typical anime: shit. Toys were fun, and I remember a store had them cheap. I had the blue one that was a phoenix I think? They were kinda dangerous though, we would often get hit with them and one kid at school got cut pretty bad on his face when one of the metal rings got busted. Plus they would get stolen. They were banned after that and the fad in my town at least died. The handles made them easier to use, deffinately.
beyblades were awesome, still got pretty much all the ones i had when i was younger, i loved my draciel, totally unbeatable back in the day lol show was ok, but the toys were totally worth it
I never bought any but I always was on the fence about buying the ones that transformed into the creatures. Anyone have any pictures of all the transforming tops? I remember there was a white dragon, a blue bird, purple griffin, black/red/orange dragon, green dragon, yellow thingy, etc.
It only gets worse when you have that exact same plot line in every single episode. I still have all of mine. Bout a hundred of them are still with me, but i haven't played with them in a long time. Mainly because i had an attack ring snap in half and hit my father in the face when i was younger. Eh, these games all have one problem: Sometimes you just can't win. Seriously, i have one top i remember that goes round so fast it will fling 3 tops out, each hitting someone, and still keep going. Anyone who has HMS Magic Ape (the inner top, the outside shell gimmick is stupid) will know what i mean. Combine that with HMS Dark Leopard (top that is Defense if it spins real fast, but that attacks once it slows down a bit) and Round Shell (literally a rubber wheel for a weight disc, absorbs force better than Draciel), and the 3 on 3 game becomes absolutely boring, and really stupid too. Well, except for the fun you get when someone gets hit in the face...*ducks* Don;t have any pics of the transforming ones, but the blue griffin you're referring to is Griffolyon and his red repaint, Salamandra or something like that. The white dragon, don't have a clue. Think it started with H or something. As for why they have metal disks inside them, well, they need to be kept weighted. Otherwise, F=MA, if M =0, F=0, and that means the less weight/mass, the less power. And who can say that when they were a kid, they didn't enjoy stuff with power? *ducks again* The metal tips generally improve efficiency, iirc. They generally work to lower friction, hence with Draciel V2 you even got a really small bottle of grease. And of course, again, more mass. M directly proportionate to Force. BTW, i happen to have the small stadium you see in the cartoon, that's generally used by random nobodys in the background, but i had to get that in Asia (The one that comes with Gallzzy and Draciel). Was it released anywhere else? Same goes for the electronic stadium with the spinning red platform in the middle (comes with Blackdranzer). Now you made me want to dig out all my old tops again...
I think the white dragon was called Hayate. Not sure about the black repaint. I remember the Driger F (second edition) was one of my best. Not change to it whatsoever and it was near unbeatable (aside from when it knocks itself out)
I thought the salamandra transforming top was the black/red/orange dragon. I remember he had long red claws.
