From what we've seen, which is a better representation of the character?

I'm going with the Botcon version even though I don't have it (yet).

Botcon, definitely. Best use of this mold so far, and very appropriate. He also heralded the return of Action Master characters to the CHUG lines.

I'd have to lean toward Botcon as well. The Bludgeon recolor is nice, but the problem is when you have a design made so perfectly as one character like that it is incredibly hard to make it something other than Bludgeon - that's how good it is at being Bludgeon. The Botcon one is a great choice of mold and has some excellent parallels with the original Action Master - the heads are pretty close and the legs are about right too. That's the direction I lean in.

Alright, I'm gonna be the odd man out -- I prefer the HFTD one simply because it's the most accessible Banzaitron for us here. The Botcon one would probably cost me 3 Voyager figs. Yes, the mold worked wonders for Bludgeon but the dark shades and green highlights are enough for me to give the mold another character of his own.

They are both neat, but the Botcon one is where its at for the head alone (no offense to the ROTF version, but that's Bludgeon's head).

The question is, which is a better representation? You can't argue that you prefer this one over that one because it's the one you can have. Offered both toys for free, which is the better Banzitron?

Clearly it's the BotCon version. That thing was designed to appeal to nostalgic collectors. The HFTD version was designed to make the best of a mold meant entirely for another character. I realize the Energon Mirage mold was too, but then again, he isn't known for his human skull head.

The HFTD version does an admirable job of replicating his colors, but I really don't want him and Bludgeon to be the same mold on my shelf. It's bad enough with all the Universe Silverbolt recolors I have. So, the Botcon one wins just for being a different guy. It also happens to be probably my favorite Energon mold, in an awesome color scheme, so it wins harder.

I also find it odd that the reason everyone else is turning away from the HTFD one is the head, saying it's "distinctly Bludgeon's head." For me, the issue is that they're just the same mold and I don't want that. Even with a different head, I don't think I'd be sold on Banzai-tron as a recolor.

Someone up there said Banzai-tron isn't known for his "human skull head." Well, uh, is ROTF Bludgeon's head human? No, it looks like some kind of insect. And, if you compare it to the G1 Banzai-tron toy, it actually looks surprisingly similar to how his facemask looks.

Really, I don't think the head issue is as severe as you guys are making it sound. I think the reason it "doesn't look quite right" as Banzai-tron is because it's too wide and kibbly. Not that it's a bad thing; the mold is awesome regardless of kibble, and it looks great as Bludgeon. But it doesn't feel like BT.

BotCon a million times over. The HFTD one is neat, but no where near as good a representation.

That sounds a lot like someone stating their subjective opinion as if it were objective fact.

Yup, that's exactly what I'm doing. I don't see any need to be apologetic about it.

Did I tell you you need to agree with me or did make an ad hominem attack? No.

I just looked back and I seem to be unable to find your opinion/contribution on the subject at hand...

If you see no reason to be apologetic, then why are you being defensive? If that's nothing to be apologetic about, then why does it seem you're intepretting my post as an attack?

Stating one's subjective opinion as objective fact is telling them they have to agree with you. So, yes, you did.

My contribution is to try to bring about a bit more respect for other's dissenting opinions to allow actual discussion instead of striking someone down by saying "Clearly" my subjective opinion is right and thus yours must be wrong.

    Edgewise,

Please leave the moderation to the Staff.

In regards to what you stated on my opinion, you've left out the supporting statements following the "clearly" word and continued to add nothing to the conversation.

Abrogate brought up contrasting points that are worth mentioning such as whether or not RotF Bludgeon's "skull" look is close enough to the original pretender look.

I stand by what I've said. The poll numbers are currently at 28 for BotCon, 6 for HFTD. I think the results are "clearly" speaking for themselves.

If you're typing a personal message to me, then how about send it as a personal message? Since it wasn't, I guess I now have to explain myself in public:

Adding to the conversation... I made one comment to try to nudge anyone reading to remember we're talking opinions, not facts, since many times when I see arguments on here blow up it's because of people forgetting that. That's all I wanted to do. I don't have either Banzaitron, so have no opinion, and was reading the topic for inform myself. I did not say I disagreed with your opinion or it was wrong or tried to argue against it, just the wording might be connected to an unsavory attitude.

Now read that carefully... I did not say you have a bad attitude.

Leaving out supporting statements... yep, and they are right up there for everyone to read in full context. I quoted what was the issue to me.

"Clearly" & poll numbers: What the poll numbers tell me is clearly there are differing opinions, not one unanimous decision.

Ugh, get a room you two.

I've always thought of BT as a ninja type, so I think the sleeker Botcon figure works better

    Back on topic...

Botcon Banzai-tron. The HFTD one is good and actually does fit the character surprisingly well, but like others have said, it really strikes me more as a recolored Bludgeon than as Banzai-tron.

I have to agree with the Bludgeon recolor opinion. At this point, it would be like taking "The Fallen" and repainting him into Soundwave or something. Maybe not so drastic, but along those lines. So I'm leaning towards Botcon. I'll probably still pick up the HFTD version just to have it though, because despite which character it is, it is a fantastic mold.
