Says who? I don't remember a single time reference. There could be a plenty of time between Season 1 and 2 to find human companions, have adventures with them, get them killed and move on.

Best for me would have to be the G1 Witwickys (both Marvel and Sunbow), Masterforce Minerva, Agent Fowler, Lennox, Epps, Joshua Joyce, Savoy, Sir Edmund Burton, June Darby, Simmons, Dutch, Captain Fanzone (seriously, this guy should have been the tagalong instead of Sari), Joey Slick, Donnie Finkleberg, Agent Burns, Circuit Breaker (the way Budiansky wrote her up until Decepticon Graffiti, after that, I wish she had become an Autobot ally), the Clays (though Russell was a bit bland), General Morshower, the TFA human villains (seriously, I enjoy them more than the Decepticons themselves) and the RB Burns family (though Kade did get in my nerves a bit).

Worst would have to be Sari Sumdac (I just can't stand her), Jack Darby (seriously, when your mom is a much more interesting and fun character than you are, you got a problem), Raf (not annoying, but pretty bland and boring), Miko (if it weren't for TFP Arcee and Ratchet, she would be the most annoying character for me), Kicker, the Armada kids and Headmasters Daniel (I liked Daniel in seasons three and four of G1, but in Headmasters, he was just insufferable).

Most of the other characters that weren't mentioned here fall in-between. Not really bland or annoying, but nothing to write home about. Sam Witwicky was okay in the first movie and the first two movie videogames, but I just couldn't stand him in ROTF and DOTM. Cade Yeager is an improvement over Sam, but sometimes I couldn't help but feel he was a bit Marty Stueish (but still, I kinda liked the character). So yeah, not much to write about any other characters that weren't mentioned here.

    My favorites are:

    Agent Fowler
    Charlie Watson
    Agent Burns
    Simmons
    Lennox
    Verity Carlo
Maggie (TF1) (she should have been in the sequels)
Denny Clay (he's seriously underrated, I found him really funny).

My least favorites are probably Sam Witwicky and his parents. Although mostly in the sequels, they overstay their welcome in those (I still say each movie should have had a different human cast). I honestly find the vast majority of human characters to just be so-so. Like, the Prime kids are fine, Sari is fine, Spike is fine, Daniel is fine, Russel is fine. A lot of them just fill the typical "kid/young guy" role, and don't really rise above that in terms of personality.

I like Cade Yeager, although mostly ironically. I wouldn't say he's a technically great character, but I find his grumpiness funny. It's one thing for Sam to act entitled and rude...teenagers and young adults tend to get away with that. But it's hilarious to see this middle-aged guy act grumpy and unpleasant to everyone he meets...then get treated like the ultimate hero of the universe by the filmmakers. That's just funny to me because of how ridiculous it is. Although I legitimately like how "go-get-em" Cade is. After three movies of Sam whining about wanting a normal life and trying to dodge helping the Autobots, I liked seeing a human protagonist who actually seemed eager to hang out with the Autobots and never shied away from that. That's really refreshing.

You are correct sir. Unfortunately, the powers that be are going to continually put useless humans in these shows. Although, Beast Wars didn't really have any humans until that nonsense in Season 3, thus one of many reasons it was great.

But, if I had to pick at gunpoint, I would say:

    Best:

    Spike

At least he had the balls to play football with the Dinobots.

That football coach Blitzwing kept in a locker for strategic military advice.

No-one else because humans in Transformers suck.

    Worst:

Everyone in all the Transformers live-action films, and I mean everyone.
All the other people in Transformers ever.

You know, the character Thurston Chumley from Rescue Bots was an homage to Lord Chumley.

It's obviously written for kids but it's still a fun little show.

Sorry, but I just never was a fan of the grump Ratchet (both TFA and TFP, always found him kinda irritating). Plus, I always felt someone like Gears, Ironhide, Kup or Siren would be more fitting for that kind of role instead of Ratchet (since I always felt Ratchet should be more down-to-earth and friendly like he was in the Marvel comics).

It fits him, he has seen some crazy stuff going down. You can’t blame him for being grumpy.

If you look at the Marvel version, he does go through hell, and he never becomes grumpy. Again, if it was a character like Gears or Kup or Siren, it would work, but Ratchet would either become depressed or doubtful of himself (though in the end, he would have enough and all the things he was holding back would go out in one big burst, which is what happened in issue 78).

I've got a lot of love for Agent Fowler, but I also do like Denny Clay from RiD2015, the Burns family (from Rescue Bots), Bud, Dr. Suzuki, and Col. Franklin from Cybertron, Fanzone from Animated, and the regular recurring humans from the G1 cartoon (Spike, Sparkplug, Carly, and Chip) and Melissa Fairborne from the third season.
