I got a G1 Galvatron for free with bad stickers, so I took some off. Now there's sticker junk left over and I don't know a safe way to remove it. Will rubbing alchohol damage the figure?
I'd rather use Goo Gone, over WD-40 on a TF. WD is rather oily to the touch, leaves a smell, and I'm sure it must be an absolute torture to remove it. Good luck.
I've heard Goo Gone will remove paint as well. Had a buddy remove sticker residue from a Skylynx and part of the paint on the windows of the shuttle came off.
I concur with Goo Gone. I haven't had an problems with it regarding paint. Maybe if you just wipe it off soon enough it'll be ok.
Er...yeah...I thought the windows were stickers. But then, I haven't looked at mine in a while. At any rate...the only time I've had Goo Gone actually take off the color on the TF or, usually in my case, the box, is if you rub a little too vigorously trying to get the gunk off in a hurry. Put some on, let it sit, take your time, wipe and repeat if necessary. With the actual TFs, if the sticker is on a part that's actually molded in that color plastic, you should be fine. The only oops I've ever encountered was with Sideswipe's door/arm. I was replacing the worn out faction symbol and when cleaning off the residue, it started to actually remove the red to a point where you could start to see through it. I stopped and just wiped the GG off and put the new sticker over the spot and let it be. It was minor enough that you can't tell with the sticker on.
I've been afraid of Goo-Gone ever since I used it on I Zoid I was customizing. It ate through the plastic. Glad to here it doesn't have that effect on Transformers.
Possibly. I don't have SkyLynx, so I can't say. I may be getting confused about the paint that rubbed off. I was thinking he said the windows... might have been some other paint ap. All I know is that he told me to be careful with it. No, wait a minute.... it wasn't SkyLynx.. It was his G1 Wheeljack. I dont know which paint came off, but he said some did...
WD-40 is working great! The smell goes away in a few minutes and it isn't oily afterwards . I sprayed some on a paper towel and rubbed it on. Then I rubbed the residue and wd-40 off. It's helping a lot!
