From both eras. From the Diamond Dave days, Hot for Teacher is my favorite. It has everything that made the young band great. The song happens to be in my favorite Roth album, 1984. From the Hagar days, I love Right Now. The sound and lyrics show how the band had matured since their early days.
PAN-NUH-MAH! PAN-NUH-MA-HA! PAN-NUH-MAH! PAN-NUH-MA-HA-HO-HA-HA-HA! Yeah, we're runnin' a lil bit hot t'night. I can barely see the road from all the heat comin' off it. Y'reach down 'nbetween mah legs and....ease the seat back. Oh, yeah, and Hagar's "Alien" song.
Hot for Teacher is the only acceptable answer. I only like Roth era Van Halen so no opinion on the rest.
the song stuck to me in particular because i used to hang in this skate shop and this guy would play this song and jump of a ladder rocker style. i was a kid then and in hindsight he was probably high as fuck.
What kind of lame ass stations are you listening to where the only Van Halen sing they've ever played is jump? This doesn't even seem possible. Also much props to Human Beings. The very last song of VH that was ever truly awesome.
Lol, I like Jump best, I guess. I have a feeling that means I'm not a "true fan" or something. Humans Being is a great song, too. That beginning might be my absolute favourite tune to work out too - it REALLY pumps you up for a good heavy set!
Yeah I think I agree with you. Hot for Teacher or Panama from Roth era. Poundcake is just still one of my overall favorites, and so iconic. If I had to pick only one, I would have to go Hagar era with Poundcake. Big props to Humans Being, Me Wise Magic for being the last couple of great songs recorded from them by the two different leads. If not for the nostalgia of the other songs, I'd probably go with one of these.
