    Hey friends!

In your opinion what is the best Transformers comic series to jump into? I've read Skybound but I'm wondering what other enjoyable series are out there?

    Let me know
    Thank you very much :)

Marvel is still my go-to TF fiction. However, keep in mind, it also has all of the trappings of most 80’s comics. Lots of exposition and occasional hokey ideas, but there’s a lot of great stuff in there. My personal favorites are issues 5-8 and 17-18, but it’s mostly great, IMO.

First 6 issues of Skybound would be my favorite. Marvel overall though I would say is the best. It has a bit of a rough start but it gets really good as it goes on.

Here’s my recommendations on where to start! :)

Marvel G1 - A fun series that may appear a little dated due to the writing conventions of the time, but it’s a genuinely fun comic with a lot of really engaging dramatic elements as it goes on. I’d say definitely give this version a read!

I’d also recommend reading IDW’s More Than Meets the Eye, and Robots in Disguise from 2012! Both of those series have some really engaging and interesting characters and story developments. I cannot overstate how much of an impact More Than Meets The Eye comics had.

If you’re open to mini series, I think IDW’s Last Stand of the Wreckers is a really good one to get into.

If you’re maybe interested in a particular character, IDW also did a series called Spotlight where they focused on a character in a one off adventure. This series was more of a mixed bag and some are more focused on developing an overarching plot than fleshing out the titular character but overall I’d say it’s worth a shot if you find there’s an issue focusing on a character you may like.

    Hope this helps!:)

I'd say IDW! If ur rlly ambitious, u can read the whole IDW Transformers in order by simply reading the IDW collection phase 1, 2, and 3. They aren't in stores anymore, so I can provide u links if you'd like :)  If you just wanna read the best of IDW, More than Meets the Eye is amazing, but I rlly would suggest exploring other amazing IDW comics like Till All Are One or Robots in Disguise, which might require reading other comics for more context.
I see a lot of people saying Marvel on here. I haven't read too much of it, but if you are reading Marvel, prepare for some rlly goofy and unique designs, and long and over-the-top introduction monologues. Gosh I love old Marvel :p

I know I’m going to get pilloried on here for saying this, but if you want a really good self-contained series that’s not going to take a year to read, try IDW two. The rebooted series. It’s the only comic that really goes into detail about how the war started, And even though you could tell the ending was rushed, it still was executed effectively

    I agree

I know it gets a lot of hate, but imo it’s not that bad, and it makes for a nice, quick, and less complicated read compared to IDW1. (The total issue count of the entire continuity is a mere 71.)

5-8 and 17-18 are a great start for Marvel. 5-8 is the original “Ratchet saga” where he’s the only Autobot left, and 17-18 is “Meanwhile, back on Cybertron” with Blaster, Perceptor, and the 1985 Minibots as an Autobot resistance cell fighting Straxus…

Marvel #39 is one of my favorites, too.

56-80 really tells a seamless story arch, but it helps to know what happened before. 51-55 really aren't too important, the last of Budianski's run.

You can skip #43, it's an out-of-continuity retelling of a bad G1 episode.

Dreamwave The War Within. Figueroa's art is top notch
IDW Last Stand of the Wreckers. Great, well written story

I also enjoy Marvel, esp UK, but the above two are fantastic.
