I've been collecting studio series figures for a while, but what is the best figure from that line? I have heard that the 86 grimlock is one of the best if not the best, while there are others stating that the 86 optimus will dethrone all. Just curious about the opinions/insights you guys have on all the studio series figures! :D

86 Grimlock is pretty great, easy transformation and a good look.

For live action figures, I just can't move past the ambition of the ROTF Devastator. He's big, he's a bit fiddly, but 8 (!) robots able to combine into one beast, he takes my vote. I have the DNA Design Upgrade kit for him so he's my favorite Transformer at this time!

(a little nod to 86 Bumblebee, more fun than I was expecting from something so small!)

I don't think there was a better figure for the price than 86 Hot Rod.

Woahhh your devastator is awesome! Did you get him on the initial launch?

I agree with that. I got one and could not stop playing with it. Not a lot of backpack kibble or anything. It’s such a solid figure

Gonna be Concept Megatron. He has the deco and pose-ability of an import figure. I WISH he was the standard.

Gosh this is a difficult question. For me I guess I would say 86 ultra Magnus right now but 86 hot rod is right up there too.

When I get 86 springer or Optimus I could change my answer but damn the 86 line is just awesome imo

‘86 Hot Rod has yet to be dethroned in my opinion. Such a great toy. Optimus does look to be an incredible release too, so we’ll see how I feel once I get it in hand.

I’m biased but I also really like the ‘86 Dinobots too.

If Hot Rod didn't have those stupid holes in his pipes, he would be perfect.

    Bay: TF3 shockwave
    BBM: concept megatron
    86: optimus prime

I'm thinking Grindor is probably the best.

86 Hot Rod is a really easy figure to love. That figure justifies the existence of dense deluxe-sized figures at the Voyager price point.

For the live-action movies though, it's a little harder. DOTM Soundwave is probably my favorite single figure from the line. And Devastator is such an ambitious project that turned out so much better than I thought it would.

Here are a few of my favorite SS figures:

SS05 Optimus: Fun transformation, great articulation, pretty solid...personally my favorite Bayverse Optimus figure
SS14 Ironhide: My favorite Bayverse Ironhide figure...solid, decent not-too-fiddly transformation
SS86 Gnaw: fun chubby little fucker that makes me smile.
SS86 Perceptor: Great character likeness and great posability...not the most interesting transformation, but I'll never need another Perceptor figure
SS08 Blackout: Intimidating as fuck in both modes. The transformation is a bit fiddly in spots, but, he ends up solid in both directions. I was floored by him when I got him...still am.
SS10 Jazz: Another slick winner that came early in the line. He's also unique in that he has ankle tilt (something I wish was standard across SS).
SS86 Dinobots: Big, chunky and fun. The transformations are pretty simple, but, they are great representations of the characters at the sizes they deserve to be.
