Was Steve Buscemi best as Daytrader in Transformers the Last Knight, or was he better as Starscream in Transformers One? Or you don't like either?
I don't think either of his roles in this IP really compare to his many of his other roles, admittedly. Though I do like how he sounds as Starscream, I don't even remember anything about Daytrader due to how little of an impact on the plot he had.
Buscemi as Starscream is my all-time favorite celebrity casting for an animated movie. It's so perfect, it's crazy that it hasn't happened sooner.
I feel like I passed into an alternate dimension, because I found Buschemi to be kind of badly cast as Starscream. He sounded very old. I dont really read the character as being an older dude, even if I guess he technically is in this universe.
Should have been titled "Better Steve Buscemi Role". These two TF voice acting roles aren't fit to carry the jocks of most of the credits on his resume. He was in 'Fargo' for fuck sake. Now, that said, between these two, gotta go with 'One'. Not.so much based on him, more because 'One' was genuinely good while 'Last Knight' was a steaming pile.of shit which poisoned every aspect and individual involved with it.
Buscemi as Daytrader was absolutely one of the better things in TLK, but Starscream was great, too. I like them both for what they are, so I can't pick.
I don't know if it's my favourite, but it is definitely great. I was expecting it to be Blum as I saw him on the cast list, so although there was initial disappointment, it was immediately offset by the joy of hearing Buscemi's whining little voice come out his mouth, and fill those big starscream boots so perfectly! sure, but it's pretty slim pickings.
Haven’t seen either so can’t decide, though much more interested in his Screamer as that sounds like a good match.
He honestly didn't get enough to do in either role. He just got paid a tidy sum to do a role that could've been performed cheaper by anyone else. It's hard to call either "best" because it's hard to call Good or Bad.
One of TLK's strengths was its voice acting. Cullen isn't as good as he is in AoE, and I think Goodman was better in AoE, too, but there are some notably Shrektastic voice performances. Megatron. Cogman. Crosshairs and Drift. Daytrader. I actually really like Omar Sy as Hot Rod, too. Here's another thing (to fans in general): performances, characters, and creatures can be well depicted and heavily enjoyable even if they aren't major characters or play a huge role in the plot. There are plenty of Transformers in the brand who are not major characters that I enjoy more than major characters, including in the movies.
Well, I'm not going to argue with you about voice acting in the movies, it's one of the few things in those movies that was not only done right, but also actually improved as they went on. Well, apart from Hot Rood
For what Hot Rod was, I rather liked his voice as a cocky robot who didn't like his accent. The only time it sucked was when they didn't replace the placeholder voice. But I'm glad we can find common ground.
Daytrader’s pretty cool and is easily memorable because Buscemi gives him so much life and character even though we’ve seen this character before. I wish he’d just been Swindle because Buscemi really would make the late, great Fred Willard proud. Buscemi as Starscream was freaking amazing. I think I have to edge it out for Starscream, he was perfect. He had the temper, the humor, and you could see why he led the Cons before Megs showed up. I love when a Starscream is a competent threat in his own right and in just a short time, Buscemi’s Starscream established himself as one even if he couldn’t compete with Megs or Sentinel.
I chose Daytrader. Just felt a tad more relaxed in that role. Get some more conversational dialogue. His Starscream is good, but for such a big get for that role in particular he doesn’t get to do very much. It’s a good casting choice, but it’s very much a cameo role for what should have been more than that.
Daytrader was one of our very few glimpses at wider Cybertronian culture in the Bayverse - an unaffiliated (but still most likely good) traveling peddler who trades his wares and information and annoys his buyers in the process. He's a slimy salesman, and Buscemi played the role perfectly. He was an inspired choice for Starscream as well!
Nucky Thompson. I liked his Starscream. I got the vibe of a resistance leader used to being king of his little kingdom in the wastes not used to any real challengers to his command.
To me his Starscream didnt quite land right, in the sense that he was overdoing it. I forgot he was Daytrader. I forgot who Daytrader even was until I opened this thread.
