Who in your opinion has been the best Spider-Man villain portrayed in the films so far? GREEN GOBLIN Willem Dafoe did a great job, as the haughty and condescending yet unstable millionaire/scientist Norman Osborn who develops a performance enhancer serum that gives him a split personality; it was as realistic a Jekyll-Hyde transformation as one could expect for a comic-book movie, I think he could have had a better mask and outfit but he did the psychopathic role really well, as the link below proves: Mirror Scene - YouTube DOCTOR OCTOPUS Alfred Molina was fantastic as the scientist who goes insane thanks to the gear fused to his spine. It was an excellent revision to have his tentacles be sentient computers that bring him under their control, as well as to give him glasses due to his eyesight being affected by the light. Beyond that, his VFX were a great combo of CGI and puppetry, probably one of the best ever. Spider-Man 2 - "Horror Hospital" Scene - YouTube The thing about SPIDER-MAN 3 is that it had a lot of great stuff but crammed it all into one film, giving no breathing space. HARRY OSBORN He had a great fight, then lost his memory, then got it back, then fought Peter, then helped him... yeah. At least the first fight was great. Spiderman 3 Fight Scene - YouTube SANDMAN He was clearly intended to be the main villain, with his backstory of a criminal only wanting to get money for his daughter tying in to his shooting of Ben Parker (I’m not saying I agree with it, just that it MIGHT have worked). Plus he got some incredible VFX. Spider-Man 3- Birth of Sandman - YouTube VENOM He had a great set-up for the next film, with Peter ruining his life and stealing his girl, him going to the church to pray for divine retribution and the symbiote dropping on him... then they just blow it within the film itself. Spider-Man 3 Bell Tower Clip - YouTube THE LIZARD He was interesting. But the problem is he was a little too much like all the other monster/mad scientist villains Spidey’s famous for fighting, plus he wasn’t beastly enough (you expect an ANIMAL from the Lizard, a man-eating bone-crunching monster, not some alternate personality that wants to turn humans into reptiles). The Amazing Spider-Man 2012 Sewer fight with Lizard - YouTube I’d give it up to the Goblin. He was a serious badass, and his arc made a definite impact on Spider-Man’s life.
Doc Ock. No contest. The Green Goblin could have been so much better if he hadn't looked like a Power Ranger villain.
Willem Dafoe; not as the green goblin, but just as Willem Dafoe. He was scarier with out the mask. and i would love for him to play Osborn in the reboot!
Overall, I said Green Goblin. To be honest though, he was my favorite becuase Willem Defoe was a great Normon Osborn. As a villain, he was a little too over the top and didn't have the best design.
If I would rate them by best to worst... 1) Doctor Octopus 2) Green Goblin 3) Lizard 4) Harry Osborn 5) Venom 6) Sandman I'd like Green Goblin more if his costume didn't look so stupid. And he would be so cool if he had this design. UNSEEN GREEN GOBLIN SCREEN TEST (EPIC) - YouTube
I voted Doc Ock, even though he is nothing like his comics version. I guess it goes to show that adaptations can be great even if they don't follow the source material closely.
Not present, because that doesn't answer the question, and you cannot possibly include Sandman and Venom with the likes of Goblin and Doc Ock.
Goblin was good (despite his terrible costume). But I had to vote for Doctor Octopus. Now, I'm not particularly fond of the original movie trilogy, but the second movie is indeed the best of the three (with the third being the absolute worst), mostly because of how well portrayed Doc Ock was. Harry was a terrible villain. I hated him. That...thing, was NOT Venom. Sandman was the only even slightly redeeming thing about S3, but that doesn't make him a good villain. I haven't seen TASM, so I can't say anything regarding the Lizard. Excluding Sandman and Lizard, I do have one problem with the villains-- Spoiler THEY WERE KILLED OFF.
I have yet to see The Lizard in action (will be watching ASM this weekend), so without him, my top vote is for Doc Ock. Then Sandman in second place.
