who’s your favorite incarnations of soundwave?

No offense but what's the point of picking a favorite if you then just list all of them?

 

They're ranked.

 

G1 Soundwave is my favorite. I think he had the best voice, and I love his minions. But really, I like all Soundwaves. *Insert obligatory Soundwave superior joke here.*

 

Classic G1 Soundwave

 

G1 is still my favorite. I honestly haven't really loved any other incarnation of the character (at least that I've seen). I feel like every aspect of him is too iconic, yet dated at the same time. Like, I don't really like Soundwave as anything other than a tape deck. I consider that a defining aspect of the character. But I guess that's not terribly exciting these days. I think the Bayverse and Prime incarnations had interesting ideas, but they ultimately didn't feel like Soudnwave to me. Especially Prime, the voice is such an iconic part of the character, it was weird to remove that.

 

G1 Soundwave is undoubtedly a cool design. Turning into cassette player is a little dated but his robot mode was cool.

I also give points to Cybertron Soundwave with his DJ attitude.

I know rid2015 soundwave and the prime one is the same but they just ruined him in rid imo.

 

I love the DJ flavor and childhood nostalgia for Cybertron Soundwave, but overall I’d say aligned is my favorite.

Cybertron: I liked his alternate mode and his ability to mimic the voices of other characters.

WfC/FoC/RID2015/Cyberverse/Bumblebee: OK I'm aware these are all different Soundwaves but the body style and Vehicle mode is so similar. Aligned Soudwave has to be the best though cause of character development.

Animated: Ranking slightly lower because of the Animation style... and... also because of his more basic robot form before he builds himself a body that can transform... This is just a really weird Soundwave and I had to put him by himself.

RotF/DotM/Prime: I would of ranked Prime higher, as you can see from the above entry I like how he was portrayed, it's the body style that puts him lower on my list. Movie Soundwave has some of the best designs in the movies but they're still all really over complicated and not a fan of that.

G1: He's a tape deck... Yeah he's the first and we wouldn't have all the others without him but there's a good reason why all the other Soundwaves are vehicles.

 

PRIME soundwave is the BEST!

He is scary and powerful but g1 is good too and has a cool voice and he has other mini cons like ravage and buzzaw

I know he's a prisoner of his time, but nothing can top G1 Soundwave for me.

That face design... that voice... the personality... the minions / pets... the EPIC playability of the toy and his all-in-one mini army... the pure radness of being a music device AND one that you could carry around if you wanted to - NO ONE was just all around out of the gate cool as G1 Soundwave imo. He was a rare perfect storm character and toy.

Soundwave was one of the few things I did like in Prime, and ironically, one of the very, very, very few things I did not care for in Animated.

 

Yeah, I've never been terribly fond of Animated Soundwave. Maybe it was because of his lack of connection with the other Decepticons.
