Don't really bother with it anymore, but animated will probably always hold the destinction of being one of my favorite lines ever. I own almost every mold except for the leaders and a few of the harder to get figures/ repaints. I could see myself going overboard with TFP stuff, but I'm gonna try not to.

Other than that, I don't collect whole lines just figures that interest me.

    iGears PP series.

No other line has approached the always tricky subject of scale in quite the same way and whether they're stolen from official molds like Faith Leader and the various Seekers or are original designs like the Ironhide & Ratchet mold or the forthcoming Bumblebee & Cliffjumper it's the "ultimate" G1 themed line that I have always wanted.

Cybertron was a pretty fun line to collect. A lot of variety, do to the planet types mixing up the designs with. scifi racing vehicles, Tech beasts, and Brutal large construction machines. their were some armada redecos.
And by the end of it you had the Cybertron Defense force and the gorgeous silver galvatron .

The line's varied characters made it the most fun to collect. Because characters were mostly available in one specific size class it made interplay between minicons, scouts, deluxes, Voyagers, Ultras, and Leaders understood.
Vaguely like in late G1, when tons of characters were made with very little fiction other than their character bio, yet they had enough personality as a toy that it really did not matter. The sculpts in cybertron/ galaxy force also mesh well with classics. Probably just because takara was used to that style at the time.

I'll pitch a vote for RiD. Also, the lack of Machine Wars in this thread is alarming (it's a cool line, and a very brief line). Alts/BTs is a slippery slope!

Depends on how much denairo you have to spend and whether you need to collect exclusives or not. Animated US release is probably the cheapest and easiest. Alternators should be reasonable now also. Beast Wars US release is okay.

I'd say Beast Wars, but that's because that's the series I grew up with. Also, I only got all the on-screen characters.

no offense to the movie and animated lovers out there. but i hate them. Im pretty picky when it comes to my collection, but i love classics/universe/generation. i have a few BW but there are only the ones that survived my childhood. i have almost all of them back then but now only a hand full. So classics all the way

I say G1. You don't have to collect the entire line. Just collect the molds/years you want. I mean I really couldn't care less about the action masters stuff so I've totally left that out.

Why G1? It's the most versatile TF line ever, bar none.

    *Realistic (albeit dated) alt modes
    *Cybertronian alt modes
*Combiners (both realistic alt modes and cybertronian alt modes)
*City bots (from Omega Supreme to Fortress Maximus)
*Triple changers (both realistic alt modes and cybertronian alt modes)
*Alt modes that aren't enslaved to vehicular form (Soundwave/Blaster/Perceptor/Shockwave/Megatron)
*Alt modes that are both vehicular (realistic and cybertronian) and beast/animal -based off both actual animals (Dinobots, Predacons, insecticons, etc.) and fantasy (Sky Lynx, Deathsaurus, Terrorcons, Seacons, etc.)
    *Various "master" gimmicks
*and of course, region/country exclusive molds (the Predators, Overlord, Star Saber/Victory Saber)

That'd be my choice, if I were looking at which line to collect next.

Truth be told best single line to collect is a matter of opinion and personal preference. I think classics styled figures are the best. Beyond that i would say the movie lines are pretty good. There are great figures from each movie line and my favorites are by far the HA figures. Go with what you like.

Of course the fact prices and limited avenues of sourcing pretty much make it difficult for anyone except hardcore dedicated fans with a lot of money and time :p

I'll probably say Animated, the one line where the toys were taken into consideration first,

I bought all the deluxe and voyager molds in the Animated line... so ah... i really like that line. Since you mentioned you're a completist, i wouldn't recommend the movie line cuz quite a few molds really suck.
