Yeah, for something like this, where the number of possible options exceeds the number of available slots, there should be an option for "other." I might vote for Spinister, once I get him, but otherwise I'd actually vote for Cog. I sat out most of Siege, having little interest in wacky Cybertronian alt modes, but Cog is a welcome addition to my LG Grand Maximus (or he will be once I get time to repaint him).
I voted Jetfire. Runner up would be Omega Supreme. Then would be Shockwave, Spinister, and Sixgun. Just IMHO. Really need to open up more choices in that poll, though. I don't see Megatron (either original or cell-shaded), Apeface, Springer, Refraktor (Reflector), Sixgun, Brunt, Ratchet, Barricade, Soundwave (or Soundblaster), or Cog in there, for example.
Spinister. He's got personality, a brilliant colour scheme, a great alt mode and dynamic articulation, and you can add to him with his Battlemasters. Of the rest, here's the order I'd put them in top to bottom Optimus Prime (VOY) Jetfire Starscream Astrotrain Shockwave Omega Supreme Ultra Magnus Ironhide Sideswipe I've had to make an assumption with A-train as he hasn't arrived yet! Sideswipe is just a little too un-articulated for my liking, even though he has a great look.
From the ones I own I'd say it's a tossup between Optimus and Starscream. Screamer has nicer posability and tighter joints, but OP has the more fun transformation and overall better looking alt. mode. Robot mode's gorgeous on both of them. Still, my opinion might change once I get my hands on Shockwave, Mags, Springer or Spinister, not to mention Jetfire or Omega. Mirage looks like a real nice toy too. Alt. mode could look a little nicer, but in robot mode he's a stunner and I love how his transformation gives him butterfly joints in his shoulders and an ab crunch. The Weaponizer Deluxes also deserve an honorable mention at the very least for bringing some Mugenbine Lite fun into Siege.
This has been a really fantastic line, so choosing a favorite was hard... In the end, I went with Jetfire. He is a near perfect rendition of his on screen appearance, and is just so cool in this new Commander Class size!
Omega is my favorite as he is one of the few figures who doesn't have multiple toys already. He hasn't had an official toy since what? Energon?
Honestly i hadn't really realized this until you mentioned this. Probably cause of the Energon retool that's more G1 like.
Top tier: Optimus, Spinister, and Flywheels. Second tier: Magnus, Shockwave, Hound, and Impactor. Special Mentions: G2 Sideswipe, the flywheels remold, Ratchet, and Skyfire. Also, I love crosshairs for whatever reason, but realize it’s not the most competent release. omega is probably in there somewhere as well, but I haven’t gotten my hands on him yet. Don’t know how ironhide is on this list at all. Both of his remolds are good, but ironhide is bottom of the barrel alongside Chromia.
My top 5 would be: 1. Springer 2. Spinister 3. Astrotrain 4. Optimus Prime 5. Jetfire HM: Omega Supreme, Hound, Ultra Magnus
I have to say Jetfire, finally a representation of the G1 character. The only complain is the issue of the mask. Some units are not able to hold the mask.
