Best - Iron Man, it really nails the look and seems to have some weight to it instead of looking like a stormtrooper in PVC
Runner-up - Batman (Michael Keaton), while I like the suit in Begins, the symbol on his chest was totally lost, mobility be damned (actually the Dark Knight suit which has the head separate for even more mobility looks meh)
Honorable mention - Captain America (1980), awesomely accurate even if the movie was cheesy

Worst - Batman (George Clooney), seriously, the nipples
Runner-up - Steel, exact opposite of Iron Man, the suit looked fake and nothing like it was armor of any kind
Honorable mention - Superman Returns, while i'm a huge Superman fan and i did like the suit i put it here to nitpick the extra 'S' on his belt AND the backs of his boot heels (WTF who's looking at the backs of his boot heels?)

This is something I've always wondered about. Is Superman supposed to be huge? I can see him as having a well-muscled body, sure, that goes without saying, I mean he's a superhero after all ... but I always thought his strength came from our yellow sun, and not from impossibly huge muscles?

Yeah, I have to agree there. I'm not an avid Superman fan, but I have read some of the comics, seen the cartoons and the toys. While the amount of bulk goes up and down, Superman has never looked like say Bane. Brandon Routh was skinny, but had decent muscle mass. I think he pulled off the look well. At least he didn't need a padded costume.

I'm holding off on Iron Man until I actually see the damn movie. I does have a very good chance of topping the list, though.

    My choices for best?

    1. Blade - OK, not much of a costume, but that's why it worked.
    2. Batman Begins - Not perfect, but still beats all the predecessors (and I'd say Batman Returns had the best design of the earlier suits)
    3. Superman - OK, it's dated now but was perfect for the time (and it helped the Christopher Reeves was inside it)
    4. Spider-Man - It's a nitpicky fan thing, but I just don't buy this costume as anything but a movie costume. Bruce Wayne could spend millions on his outfit, but not Peter Parker. I really would have preferred something that could have been plausibly made by a poor high school student (Alex Ross had some good ideas).
    5. Fantastic Four - Not great, not awful, but plausible and fitting with the original "non costumes" that Kirby was going for.

    For Worst?
    1. The Punisher (first movie) - No skull? No f'ing way!
    2. Captain America - WITH PLASTIC EARS!
    3. Mighty Morphin Green Goblin

It depends. He got huger (yes, huger) when John Byrne redesigned him in the mid-80s (though never as bulky as he was in The Dark Knight Returns). I think Alex Ross has the right look - muscular, but not massive.

As for the SR costume, I never thought it was the right choice. I don't mind the belt buckle, but the sculpted S never looked right, I hated the bikini briefs, and they chose the wrong colors - by going with a more maroony (yes maroony) red, it dulled the contrast with the blue. When artists have darkened Supes - either with costume color or by shadow- it's always the blue that is subdued while the red and yellow were kept bright for highlight/contast. Your eyes SHOULD be drawn to the cape and the shield - but this design minimized them. Bleh.

You do know that the costume was absolutely covered with mini-"S" shields, right?

    And THIS is "Awesomely Accurate"?

I LOVEED Thing from the 1994 FF movie. He looked so much like the comic, as did Dr. Doom and the FFs costumes. Shit, even the Jeweler looked like a good Mole Man.

Before that turdy Captain America movie came out on video, I was at a comic show and purchased the last bootleg off a dealer for $10. The guy behind me wanted the same thing, REAL BAD. He happened to be a dealer at the con and gave me $200 credit towards merchandise at his booth. There was no haggling. I heard a voice from somewhere say "I'll give you $200 credit towards comics at my table for that Captain America video", and I went in its direction.

Yes, yes I am. It just bugged me that he's already got a symbol on his chest, why add another one onto his front from his back? Don't get me wrong, I thought the SR suit was decent, but they didn't have to go with a lot of the changes from Reeves Supersuit.

As for worst... I think all you guys have selective memories. I still remember this particular suit SEARING MY EYES when I saw the adverts in US comics I bought back in the day. BEHOLD!
