Iron Man is pretty damn good. The one in the Spiderman trilogy was awesome too.

Yeah, Spidey ranks as my favorite, too (though it annoyed me to no end that Maguire kept taking the damn mask off every five seconds).

I liked the costume for Batman Begins. Found it much better than the ones from the 90's series, where he had plastic muscles (ocassionally plastic nipples) and a completely immobile neck.

This is crazy! Spengler -you wrote exactly what I was thinking when I saw the thread title.

The Spider-man movie costume is my favorite -as long as it is the red and blue version. The black costume should have looked more like it's comic counterpart.

As far as Peter taking the mask off all the time, I think the worst example of that is in Spider-man 3 when he is about to show up at a celebration honoring Spider-man. There are thousands of people and probably scores of reporters (with cameras capable of long distance zoom) looking up at the rooftops and Peter is standing on one rooftop in plain sight looking down on all of them without his mask.

I understand that the actor's face conveys more expression than a mask, but come on! Even my son, who was six at the time said "Why does he have his mask off?"

The Batman Begins costume is quite good. My only complaint with it is that there is no contrast between it and the bat symbol on his chest.
But it gets major props for allowing Bale to move his neck while in costume.
He is the first movie Batman who did not appear to have a stiff neck.

In regards to the nipples, I can not believe anyone thought that was a good idea. And, if Batman and Robin have nipples on their costumes, then why not Batgirl? Seriously, why not.

I do admit that the Iron Man suit looks really good -possibly the best, but I need to reserve judgement until after I see the movie.

Spider-Man costume with the Batman Begins costume right behind.

In terms of live action comic book costumes, Sin City was the comic book on the screen.

Iron Man by far. It's a freaking metal costume that actual works. Cloth costumes are easy, the special ones are hard. As a close runner up, I'd say Batman, either original Keaton or Begins Bale version.

Iron Man is one of the best since it is so close to the source material in design and lets face it, Robert Downey Jr is the perfect Tony Stark. BUT ya cant say anything bad about the big red monkey himself, Hellboy.

Gotta go with Hellboy. With the exception of his hoofs hes damn spot on for the character... and Ron Peralman is a kickass actor.

It depends on what you mean by "the best".For me to say its the best then it has to really be as close to the comic interpretation of that costume.

And so far one of the best has been from one of the worse comic book movies....Dare Devil.

Other then a few alterations movie DD's costume had a real comic book feel to it and I didnt have one single complaint about it.

Spiderman's costume is also right up there althou I didnt originally like the silver webbing in the first pics released of the costume after seeing it in the film I grew to like it.

IronMan's looks like its going to be on the top of my list but truth be told its much eazier to his costume any justice then it may have been for Spidy and the others.

Ironman changes armor every 3 to 5 years so all the film makers really have to do is make it look believable and real and they'll do fine. With Ironman they dont have to live up to 30 or more years of a basic costume look.

Iron Man looks good, Ghost Rider's was okay, but Spider-man loses points for lack of armpit webbing and I didn't quite like the eyes (I was raised on McFarlane/Larsen eyes). Loved Hellboy's costumes, all of them, including Abe Sapien, but I also have to give props to the TMNT costumes in the first live action movie (and Casey Jone's bad-ass mask).

I'm supprised that you missed the armpit webbing since you mention McFarlane & Larsen art.Nether artist were consistent about useing the armpit webs.

I actually didn't think Bale's Batman Begins costume was all that much better than the other costumes. It was still black injected-rubber, except this time it was sculpted like armor instead of muscles. He had awful arm mobility, and I didn't see him move his neck once.

Iron Man and Spider-Man look exactly like they should. I just hope Downey keeps the darn mask on his face.

I saw the Batman Begins suit on display in Hamleys in London when Batman Begins toys were out, and it didn't look all that great in person. The problem with it is that its basically a wetsuit, and because of that wrinkles up on extreme motions (look at his shoulders when Batman is roughing up that crooked Police officer). Its meant to be a multi layer armour suit, which looks great when shot at night in the dark but in decent light and close up it doesn't hold up. Especially since it was supposed to be based on the ninja armour he wore earlier. New Batsuit haven't seen it motion so I can't say.

Micheal Keatons Batsuit from 1989 is (IMO) the best looking Batsuit they ever did. Shame he waddles like a duck, and has no peripheral vision unless he moves his entire torso.

Daredevil costime was awesome... except for his mask. They deliberately removed the jaw piece, so that people could see Afflecks jaw. WTH? That one bit being removed made his mask look more like a skullcap and made him look like a gimp. So close.

Spider-man suit again looked great, but it had painted in shadows, for muscle definition. Which looked great in daytime, and upright. But turn him upside down and suddenly the shadows were all wrong...

Superman Returns suit was pretty good. I really liked the embossed S symbol, but why did it have an extra S symbol on his belt? Its already on his chest! The removal of the yellow symbol off his cape was a bit weird too. But what really gets me, is his cape. Apparently they used lots of different capes for different bits. Running cape. Wet cape. Flying cape. Standing cape. But NONE of them actually looked as natural as Dean Cains cape from Lois and Clark. My wifes theory is that the SR returns cape is attached at the neck, like the 78 film. The 90's Dean Cain cape is attached to his shoulders, and 'gets more air'.

The X-men suits from X2 were pretty cool, but generally quite simple, really just biker leathers.

I dunno. Every single superhero suit has had some sort of flaw...except for one. It did EVERYTHING the suit was supposed to. No fake shadows (Spider-man). No fake armour plating that acted like one piece rubber (Batman Begins). It didn't look like simplified leather biker gear (DD, X-men). It didn't constrict the actors movement, giving them free range to do all the stuff I wanted to see.

But I think its less the suit and more the person...

Jessica Alba as Sue Storm... now theres a suit I could stare at all day. ;)

Iron Man is the best, with Begins Batman as second and the X-Men outfits as third (liked them a lot; they looked cool, made them look like they belonged in one group and still had individual traits).

I really don't get all the love for Spiderman. Sure, he looks accurate, but it looses severe points with the "scales", highlighted silver webbing and overall hi-tech appearance. You can NOT convince me that a teenager supposedly made that...

So you complain that they removed the yellow symbol off the cape, but also complain that adding another to his belt is one too many. You're very hard to please.

Personally, I liked the Superman costume the best, it didn't look hokey. The only probably I had with it is that the guy in it didn't have any muscles. Superman's supposed to be HUGE, and Brandon Routh is not.

Other than that... Batman Begins suit, Spider-man red and blue, F4 Costumes.

The Hulk costume's pretty good. You can hardly tell there's someone in that. /sarcasm

Agreed on ALL points! The Iron Man suit is absolutely fantastic, I don't think there could be anything better. It looks sleek, yet also like there is someone in that suit as well, not to mention all the wireing on the inside and the fact that it's made up of multiple pieces. Batman Begins suit is...ok but that's just my personal opinion.

As for Spiderman...well...let's just say I deny the fact that there was ever any movies made. T.T Damn you Raimi

It's a tough call, but the first thing that came to mind was Spidey with Iron Man close on his tales. I thought Superman's was pretty good too actually.
