Wow, I've had a lot of luck over the years......off the top of me head...

I too got Energon Galvatron for 9.00 at Target, and universe um/sw for 10...
At a flea market in, oh, 2004? A lady had put a bunch of g1 stuff in her little case...
it was all a little dusty, but it all cleaned up to pretty well mint...the dust actually protected them I think....I got : Sky Lynx, the metal vers.Protectobots, megatron, perceptor, and about 5 others for 30 bucks.
I was at a toy show back in 04 and got about 20 mint loose bw toys for 4-5 each, a mint loose devastator for 8 and a complete g1 Jazz for 5. I didn't have a lot of the beast wars stuff at that point, so I was lucky to knock those out cheap....

...5 dollar TM Kup at a garage sale....I could go on and on....

Does getting Titan class Generations SDCC Devastator for free thanks to a pricing error on HasbroToyShop count? I think that is my best.

Second best would be the reissue 25th anniversary G1 Optimus Prime (the one which came with the voice box, a copy of Marvel #1, and episode 1 of the cartoon) on clearance for $12.50 at Target.

About 15 years ago, neighbor had a yard sale. I got a box full of GI Joe & Transformers, mostly complete for $10 (or free, I can't remember exactly) but they said they only cared that they went to a good owner.

    Included:
    Jetfire (complete)
Metroplex (complete minus a shoulder antenna unless I lost it, since replaced and complete)
    Omega Supreme (mostly complete)
    Grimlock (complete)

    and...

    Snarl
    Swoop
    Thrust
    Smokescreen
    Mirage
    Inferno
    Blot
    Most of the Aerialbots
    Most of the Constructicons
    Swindle
And probably some others I'm forgetting.

Basically when Hasbro Toy Shop relaunched their site a few months back, it was not quite ready for prime time. The site was super buggy while the item and pricing data was getting transfered. One of the consequences was that several items were listed as free. I ordered it for fun fully expecting it to get cancelled (the checkout process was a nightmare complete with the need to reset a password and a payment screen that really didn't want to load.)

The error didn't last long and I think only a handful of people actually managed to get it (a friend of mine was less than a minute behind me in the ordering process and the price fixed itself while he was checking out.) The icing on the cake is that it was even sent with free overnight shipping thanks to another error!

Reminds me of a few years ago when Target had a similar problem. The Target Exclusive Animated 2-packs (purple Shockwave plus Activator, & Sunstorm plus Activator), which were supposed to be $25 I believe, were ringing up as $5 in their system. I read about it on this site and ran over there as fast as I could. Got Sunstorm for me and Shockwave for a relative at $5 each :D

Target hasn't been the same over the past few years. After Christmas I was always picking up figures for 50-75% off. Mostly movie stuff. I got Mindwipe for $10.

My best purchases were Voyager Prime and Ironhide for $8. I did get the leader Ironhide for my nephew for $15. Target had five of them on the shelf. Looking back now I should have purchased a lot more. But I didn't want to buy things just because they were on sale.

My local Goodwill's Toy section is always an unholy mess, but that is an amazing find. Congrats!

For my birthday and my first real transformers purchase for a total of $80 I got all the 2005 Classics Voyagers and Deluxe Figures.

I also just picked up a g1 Mirage and hound In great shape with unused stickers and everything minus the boxes for $130 so that was $65 a piece and I thought that was a pretty good deal

Our Goodwills take stuff out that they think are collectible and ebay them, leaving the junk leftovers to rot on the shelves. It's pretty bad...

When I was a kid I found an almost complete sky lynx at a local place called the clothes closet.

I concur with what WishfulThinking is saying. A lot of the stuff donated nowadays doesn't end up in the hands of people that need it most. It ends up on ebay. I've personally seen shit like that happen.

Where did you get your Sideswipe? $30 is awfully close to what the KOs go for...
