we discussed who is the strongest TF .... (grimlock last check)

we discussed who is the fastest TF .... (Blurr)

    sooo ....

which transformer has the thickest armor?
or perhaps it should be worded ...
Which transformer has the thickest hull?

    either way ...

(maybe city-formers should be excluded becuase i would think they would have to have the highest defense/ thickest armor in their factions. i mean goes without saying even megs fusion canon would have issue OHKO Fortress Maximus right?)

First thing that came to mind was Ultra Magnus.

Then again, he got blown up by Galvatron really easily. Then again, it was the 86 movie, where Brawn apparently died from one shot in the shoulder.

thats right UM does have an exo suit which would be additional armorment ...

i kinda figured Slag would be in the heaviest armor, since he seemed thicker and slower than rest of dinobots.

i would thick Ironhide would have pretty durable skin too what with his name being ironhide.

Ironhide. I mean he's got to be called Ironhide for a reason.

Well, based on stuff we've seen, and the fact that they are supposed to be more or less equals, I think Prime, Megatron and some of the other "leader" types would be right up there.

However, there are other TFs who are specially noted for their specialized armour. Here's a list of those from the first 3 years:

    1984:

    Ironhide (duh)
    Brawn
Sunstreaker (bet you didn't know that, eh?)

    1985:

    Sludge
Snarl (the other dinos are probably pretty tough too, but especially these two)
    Warpath
    Bonecrusher

    1986:

    Brawl
    Motormaster
    Ramhorn
    Outback
Sky Lynx (don't know if he counts, since he's kind of a "giant" class character)

Honourable mention goes to Inferno... his armour may not be that resistant to artillery weaponry, but his heat resistance would allow him to go swimming on the surface of the sun... which has got to count for something. :)

    Omega Supreme
His armored form is virtually impervious to all non-nuclear explosives and energy-beam weapons.

    Metroplex
His armor is the equal of any Transformer's; to merely scratch it would require at least a low-yield nuclear explosion.

    Piranacon
He is fully operational up to a depth of 30,000 feet below sea level.
    ...

Megatron survived a planet-moving explosion with a few cracks in his armor int he cartoon.
Galvatron in different forms survived a bitch slap from Unicron into Cybertron and off of buildings and was fine, survived a plasma bath, and survived a solar pool.
Optimus fell from the stratosphere into Earth and shrugged it off in the cartoon.

but of coarse skylynx would have superb armor that would very likely go unmached within the realm of transformerdom. of coarse, durable armor is just 1 of the many endowments that skylynx has to offer! but to be meantioned in a debate on such a prestigious gathering of minds such as this is an honor in and of itself!

    lol

thats right warpath! i read while he aint fast but his armor makes him last in battle much longer than other autobots.

omega supreme! of coarse a guardian would be hard to take down as well.

I wouldn't count the big dudes like Omega Supreme and Metroplex... for most of the "giants" like combiners, cityformers and stuff, there's some mention made of their resistance to firepower. I think we can take their armour for granted.

Unicron actually has CRAPPY armour. The Junkion ship went right through his eye. Grimlock tore up his ass. And then Rodimus through Galvatron right through him. He doesn't seem to have a whole lot of structural integrity, though I guess it still would be the "thickest" armour. :)

Broadside I don't know. There's no mention made of his armour... except for the fact that it rusts very easily.

well, Optimus could take a beating in several continuities (G1, Animated, Prime), but in the Live Action movies he was a bit of a wimp, and Megatron is in the same boat (being weaker in the Bayverse)

I figure Rhinox has some decent armor thanks to his beast mode, Waspinator can take the most punishment over other TF's in his time

I think Predaking might have the best armor amongst the G1 US Gestalts with Liokaiser is the best armored Gestalt overall.

i think the cybertron vanguard team likely has some thick armor as well. being upgraded by a planet key has gotta give them something.

Would Trailbreaker's forcefields count as armor?
