The best is Beast Wars.

I haven't seen the Unicron Trilogy enough to make a fair judgement but from what I've seen it's not very good.

 

I know it's your opinion and I won't attack you for it, but did you actually watch all of Animated? Once I got passed the designs being different, I found that I really enjoyed the show for it's charm, humour, characters and stories  .

Anywho;

Best: Beast Wars. My childhood mon! And I love it more because of the fact that when I got older and re-watched it, it was EXACTLY the same, and as good as I remembered it to be, unlike say, Dinosaucers. Dinosaucers was one of the many shows I watched, realized it was crap and stopped midway as to not taint my childhood perception that it was the coolest show ever. It's the reason why I won't go back and revisit Armada/Energon/Cybetron.

Worst: Beast Machines. But only because I haven't seen the entirety of any of the Unicron trilogy, and I don't think I intend to with all the negative feedback I've heard. So for me, Beast Machines wins because it's the only TF show I've watched and not loved.

 

I actually didn't mind Beast Machines. When I tried watching it immediately after finishing BW, I didn't like it, but after some time it grew on me. I can't get over how stupid Megatron's death was though.

 

After finally watching the last episode of Prime, its definitely flying through my rankings. Its right behind Beast Wars and Beast Machines in my opinion

Best: Beast Wars or Animated, although I liked Cybertron a lot as well.
Worst: Energon.

 

Best: G1 (close second; Animated, Beast Wars, Beast Machines, Prime).

Worst: Playschool Go-bots.
(I havn't seen more then a few of episodes of Armada/Energon/Cybertron so I cant judge that fairly).

WORST: Energon or Cyber Missions.

Honorable mention: Transformers Prime (It's not done....so I refuse to rank it)

Accounting for the writing, charm, and just overall personality and technology of the time. Yes, I know many people dislike Beast Machines on principle, but it stands solidly on it's own. None are without their flaws, but overall these are the best of what we have.

Objectively the worst:
Energon

There isn't any way to go about this. Energon was a terrible show on all accounts. Animation was horrid, story was horrid, dubbing was horrid, action was horrid, it was just cliche anime jargon. Nothing made remote sense. Sidestories were dropped inexplicably. Pain count was off the charts.


I'd also throw G1 in there for an honorable mention. I don't care if it was the first the show is awful if you take off the nostalgia goggles. The movie was also bad on pretty much all fronts as well.

 

Best: BW, Animated, Prime

Worst: G1, had a few gems in it's run. But mainly just mud pretty much, bad animation errors and character development just suddenly drop as suddenly it came. Then it had characters that just suddenly came from nowhere and some that just showed up after being killed without any reason. Removing the nostalgic factor, it's really one of the bottom series out of Transformer shows.

 

Best: US G1
Worst: Everything else non US G1!

Worst: Energon. As much as it was awesome at first, I just got to episode 36 and got bored. Might watch Cybertron next.
