GP are the only 3P Dinobots I want because they look and scale the best imo.

I got Grinder first, thinking I wouldn't need a whole set of Dinobots. Then, on a lark, I got Grassor (great value at $135) to see what the Gigapower camp had to offer and I was blown away. I ordered Guttur and have a pre-order for Graviter. I love the finish and proportions. They are the premium robots that Masterpieces were meant to be, in my opinion.

I don't fault people for feeling FT is a better fit for their MP displays, though. Standing the Gigasaurs next to any MP minibot would be highly unflattering to the minibots... and probably most of the non-minibots. Hell, they make Grinder look like Grimlock, the High School Years.

FT would be a good choice I suppose if you're hurting for space, but if you want big beefy badass dinos, then it's Gigapower all the way.

For a Masterpiece collection, it's not even a discussion for me: Fans Toys Dibots are it.

I went FT's just because they remind me of the cartoon ones with a little more "extra" look to them.

I'm hoping Wei Jiang or someone takes the POTP Dinos and reworks them to scale with MP Grim.

    At least Slag and Sludge.

Although I've never actually handled any 3P Dinobots, on aesthetics alone I'd have to give it to Lost Exo Realm. I've no interest in 3P Masterpiece, which is what the market is currently geared toward, so if I were to ever splurge on 3P I'd grab them.

Still waiting on even more IDW-inspired designs that actually look like the dinosaurs they're based off of. Didn't MMC show off a Grimlock?

They did, but he probably won't be out until late next year or the following year.

A thread about Dinobots, without me?

The best Dinobots are Dinobots that achieve the following:

    1: A good robot mode
2: A realistic, modern, up to date dinosaur mode

As such, Fanstoys and Gigapower are clearly nowhere near the best due to their slavish outdated reconstructions. Shameful.

Planet X I'd love to give it all to, but their Swoop can't pose like a pteranadon. Gotta go to Exo Realm because they have a Pteranadon that can actually pose like a pteranadon

Where's that dinosaur guy? The douche that posted pages of tears about them not being scientifically accurate.

Serously looking at Planet X's myself. I LOVE FP's aesthetics but I've heard the quality is lacking.

"2: A realistic, modern, up to date dinosaur mode" = Dinobot from Beast Wars. MMC will also make a Grimlock that may be to your liking.

For Swoop, yes, the FP one looks more realistic to a dinosaur, much better paint, nice bot face, but damn UGLY in dino mode, and the wings articulation absolutely sux in bot mode, so annoying that i had to sell mine... WORST WINGS EVER!!! The Planet X Swoop looks great in bot mode and the wings have much better articulation, and yeah, it looks more robotic, the way the dinobots are supposed to.

Personally, i find the quality very good on the FP dinos. Maybe the Sludge can develop loose hips, but it can easily be fixed with gorilla tape in less than 5 minutes. It's alt mode is much superior to the PX one, and no ugly unpainted yellow (which i fix by adding paint!).

No issues with quality on mine. Paint and tolerances are good, the set is playable, and plastic is at least on the same level or superior than retail HasTak. They feel like premium toys.

My preference for FansProject aside, you can't go wrong with either FP or PX.

I wouldn't recommend FP's honestly. I wanted to love them so much but that was wasted money to me.

Gladly, firstly I will say Slag is amazing I can actually recommend him but his transformation locks his waist swivel (which is too loose anyway) and I had some plastic cracking on hinges used to transform dino legs the first tome i transformed him. though i super glued the outside of it and have had no issues

Sludge: bad hips (another comes with replacement hips), no wrist swivels

Swoop: nothing locks into place, can't stand on his own

Grimlock: stumpy stupid tail, can't properly hold his sword, shoulders don't lock into place

All: mirrored limbs so the screws are on the outside of one limb and the inside of the other (way more noticeable than I expected), general qc issues, parts needing to lock in that don't.
