    ...blueprint. heheh.

it'd have to be in 3 parts, overall size'd be 9-12ft (yikes).

plywood base, with molded plaster of paris/wire mesh structure.

scaling it to g1 optimus prime would be a logistic nightmare, combiner member size and smaller would be ideal.

    comments/crit welcomed.

i've actually seen that before (at another site), but theres actually a better, more proportionate one (dude actually won a prize at a con) where the thrusters were made using coffee cups. sorry, no linky.

Wow. If you can really pull this off, I can't wait to see it.

When I was a kid, I tried building an Ark playset out of Legos. It didn't work.

I'll be impressed when somebody builds the comic ark, you'd probably just about be able to fit one of the hanger bays by itself in a 3x3 foot area.

I would suggest that you use a clear appoxy with a lot of varnish for the waterway.

You should be able to find a lot of model building tips online, but a good resource is Games workshops. They have a few books out about terrain and model making, but they also do segments in ther monthly magazine as well.

eh, its just a pipe dream really.

i actually have the skills to do it. back in uni doing scale models was the norm: i'm an architect. i've even some friends who've done intricate costumes using wire/mesh+plaster, so this is relatively a piece of cake.

alas, i dont think i have the time to execute it, with me coming home after 10pm and my non-weekends.

heh. if i had a couple'a grand to spare i could draught the blueprints and hire professional model-makers to do it XD

with the repair chambers and generators (like the one where ratchet and the mechanic fight)? ha. ha.

actually, for those who're familiar with SW webbies, the dioramas done by SW fans (chk out niubniubsuniverse.com) are light years ahead. the DS hangar by frank while large is fairly simple, but his bespin cryogenic facility is right outta the movie set.

I love the playset essentials...the prison, 'working' elevator (it looks like it'd have that clicking sound), and catwalk/deck, which would have to have a trapdoor. Even better, the trapdoor would open into the prison.
I move every few years because of work, but I've always promised myself that when I settle down I'm going to have a room to build multiple scale dioramas of Cybertron. It's my pipe dream.
