Sweet! I love the movie, I just hope it does well and is great, cause I get fearful when movies that I grew up watching get remakes or late sequels.
Haven't heard about this for some time. Let's hope it keeps BJ the ghost with the most! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yuWswFv-Cn8
BEETLEJUICE 2: Keaton Says 'That Ship' May Have 'Sailed.' — Latino-Review.com Keaton added, frankly, that he thinks "it's possible that ship has sailed." But he then implies it's not for a lack of wanting, but more that they're all concerned that lightning won't strike twice, and they'd rather leave it alone than embarrass themselves. "The only way to do it is to do it right. So much of it was improvised and so much was beautifully handmade by the artist that is Tim Burton," Keaton said. "If you can’t get close to that, you leave it alone." With that in mind, Keaton thinks it's dangerous to revisit certain properties if you're not certain you can get them absolutely right. "There are certain movies that are like Indian burial grounds. You never ride over them," the actor explained. "Bad s— happens if you cross that. You don’t touch certain things. They are sacred." As much as I'd love a sequel, Ghostbusters 3 gives him a definite point.
Just watched BJ again for the 100th time (+/-) the other day, have to agree, it'd be hard to bring that same energy back to the screen... even with Keaton in the lead. While the FX is a bit dated, it's still pretty good and the problem with remakes is they usually go 'hog wild' with the FX and lose something in the writing/acting. Love that movie, so many one liners that are still classic, he's got a point, leave it be... otherwise, you know, 'sandworms'... *shivers*
They tried to get Kevin Smith to write a draft way back when they were doing a Death of Superman movie, this has been on and off again forever.
No remakes. It's gotta be a sequel with Tim Burton and Michael Keaton returning or I'm not interested. And both of them have said they'd be willing to do a sequel. It's just a matter of getting a script for that sequel. There's been a few proposed ideas but they haven't been very good. One even involved pretty much the same plot as the first movie but set in Hawaii while the family from the first movie went on vacation. It sounds awful and I'm kinda glad they didn't agree to one of those rushed gimmicky sequels.
Thank goodness. Me and the wife just rewatched the original, and we still like it, but it's very much a moment in time. I don't think that tone and way of telling a story could be recreated today.
