I have just got the first disc for season one from my netflix queue. I just watched the first episode. I really enjoyed it. I have been a fan of G1 for a long time and thought I would give Beast Wars a shot. So far I am impressed. I am hoping it gets better.

It gets extremly good in season 2 and 3, when they consentrate on many plots in one. Season 1 is more or less random episodes, with a few 2 parters.

Beast Wars is definitely awesome. Not as good as G1 (IMO), but comes in at a close second place. The writing/animation is some of the best I've ever seen and the voice acting is excellent. Make sure to rent the rest of the series, you will enjoy it.

Beast Wars is the best. There is a serious and facinating plotline, each charecter is distinguishable by his manner of speech and acting, the voice acting itself is great, many many many references to G1 and cool fight scenes.

Beast Wars is by far the best series of Transformers ever. It remains serious and plot-oriented while still taking time to be a real cartoon and have great humour and the best action scenes ever. I echo everyone's sentiments: it only gets better and better.

The best part is (and I say this without spoiling as much as possible) most of those seemingly random episodes actually have purpose later one.

I never got around to buying BW S1 because there's still a little bad taste in my mouth even after all these years because I just didn't care for the show at first.

S2 and S3 were very entertaining though, and I own both DVD sets. BW is still one of the best TF series to date if only for the high production quality: the writing, voice acting, story arcs, and the CGI was great for its time too. The fact that it was even made as a kids show still amazes me.

Dude, if you like the episodes at the beginning of the series, you'll LOVE the rest of it. IMO the beginning was very weak, but it gradually gets better towards the middle of seaon 1. Season 2 is awesome, and most of season 3 is as well. The writing is WAY better than the garbage that is RiD and the Armada Trilogy.

Being an original geewunner (I was old enough to remember and love the very first time the show aired) I'm still a Beastie lover. The show is the best incarnation of TF in terms of story, writing, and overall production value.

The only thing G1 has over BW is nastolgia and a hell of a lot more character, and combiners, damn I love combiners.

So, all in all. BW beast series ever. Season one is by far the weakest of the 3 seasons but its all uphill from there. The show gets better and better with each passing episode.

    Thanx

Beast Wars is the golden, hairy, munky Adonis other TF series wish they could be.

Well, Animated is giving it a run for it's money...

I wouldn't say the original poster should skip Beast Machines after watching Beast Wars. True, some of the things they did flew in the face of what Beast Wars set up, but it is still a legitimate entry into the Transformers universe, so just at least try to give it a shot to see whether you like it or not. There are still quite a number of things I feel they did right about Beast Machines despite its problems. In the end, after finishing, one can always choose whether to include it in his personal canon or not.
