So I finally got around to reading dawn of the predacus and holy hell that comic should never be taken into account for continuity at all, it’s a nice stand alone story about the last battle of the war, but taken in the larger bw expanded material it contradicts just about everything including other funpub and idw material

Yeah but that was only seem to create another contradiction

Well I don’t recall does the exact dialogue I remember black Arachnia stating that the great war of the autobots and decepticons ended 300 years ago

I’d have to rewatch the episodes but I don’t think autobots or decepticons we’re name dropped in the dialogue and even if they were she could be talking about the great wars as a whole which started with the bots and cons

I think most surviving Autobots are just retired on other worlds. After all, information about the Great War had been kept hidden by the High Council. So why stick around a place that doesn't want to recognize one's service?

As for the Decepticons, I just easily see the entire faction being disbanded following the signing of the Pax Cybertronia. Most of the leadership being killed in the closing stages of the war. Some ended up seeking amnesty in return for crucial information. Others fought on under guerilla warfare, either being killed or captured in the post war years. A few probably just went into hiding and either gave up fighting or plotting to strike at a later point. Like Razorclaw's team for example, the Maximals would be screwed facing Predaking on Cybertron.

I noticed a lot of posts talking about the history being censored but I don't think that's actually the reason why so few characters know about it. Think about it in human terms. Unless you're a major history buff even in our world where history isn't censored few people know about it and even the ones that do have a very limited knowledge of our history, no censoring required.

Just as an example, look at how many people including our own president don't know that six US states were originally part of Mexico. It's not censored, anyone can look up the history of America and see how each state was obtained but the majority of the population live in ignorance believing that Mexicans are all illegal immigrants rather than the fact they're descendants of Mexican people who were already here before they became US states. Most of the cities still have their original names, why do people think they're written in Spanish? It's because Mexicans named them.

It's pretty well known that Indians were here before us though they were only called that because Columbus thought he was in India but technically, Mexicans are also Native Americans who were here first if you live in one of the states that was originally part of Mexico.

Also look at Hawaii's history as to how it became a state when it was originally it's own country with their own Queen. And most Hawaiian traditions that exist on the islands today aren't even real. Most tourists believe they are experiencing Hawaiian culture but most of that stuff didn't even exist till after it became a US State. That place was designed to be a tourist trap. Again anyone can easily look up the real history, it's not hidden some where only the government knows about but most people just believe the tourist trap version and won't bother to research the actual history.

Schools do their best to teach kids about history but considering there's hundreds of years of it and most kids don't care about things that happened before they existed little of it actually sticks with them as they grow into adults. It's also interesting to note that one of the ways to become a citizen without being born here requires taking a test on US history which most born citizens can't even pass. This means that on average legal immigrants know more about this country than the people who are born here.

Going back to Beast Wars, it's likely the same kind of situation for them where the information is easily obtainable but most people just don't care to research it. History censorship usually means that the government is actively hiding or altering information so that the public can't access information about what really happened. There's no evidence of this in Beast Wars. The information seems to be easily accessed just most characters are too lazy to look.

Blackarachnia is a prime example of this as she was in a stasis pod. Even if you want to believe that she was some how a complete Transformer before becoming a Protoform, her mind was reprogrammed and she woke up with no memory of her old Maximal self yet she's more informed about the Great War than all the other Predacons. She was the only one who knew how Starscream really died after he lied about it in Possession. This would indicate that the information about the Great War isn't censored because if it was she should but just as if not more clueless than the other Predacons. There's no way she could know Starscream was lying if the information about him wasn't easily obtainable. The other characters are just too lazy to do the research.

And the fact that Blackarachnia was able to research Cybertron's history with the limited resources on the Darksyde really shows how easily avalible the information is if she doesn't even need to be on Cybertron to access it. If it was really censored then that information would have been locked away on Cybertron some place that could only be accessed on site not from a remote location on another planet before the history was even written in the first place.

And the idea that only Predacons know the real history because Dinobot had to fill in the Maximals on who Stars cream was doesn't really work when the other Predacons didn't know who he was either.

there actually is one bit of information in beast wars (the show, not expanded material) that leads to the possibility of history censorship and that is that our solar system is off limits/restricted space

You would think if she was referring to a war that started with one group and ended with another she would’ve made mention of it also

Unless it’s common knowledge for them, remember for all that we don’t know about cybertronian culture in beast wars the characters know more than we do

I really like what you wrote there, great analogies! Although in that episode, Optimus does say that the files on Starscream were classified by the Maximal elders.
