does anyone have him? i absolutely love that mold, and have all the other releases, and am really tempted to get the new version, but wonder about the 40 dollar price tag...is he worth it? does anyone have comparison pictures between the obsidians?

I didn't think it was worth it personally. the colors seemed a bit too bright to look 'show accurate" IMO. My fave Obsidian is the Universe dark purple one.

The only Japanese "BW Returns" toy I have is the purple Silverbolt though, if that means anything.

Technically yes, (reg is accepted) though that Prime doesn't do much for me.

I got early last fall from an ebay seller named agabyss for a little less than $40 shipped. I hadn't owned the mold before and really wanted that particular color scheme, so it was worth it to me.

I got it when it came out from Fantofan for a decent price.
The color scheme is awesome. The best release of this toy by far IMO.
However I personally think $40 for a basic is a bit much..

I've got this version of Obsidian, along with the original green, RID desert camo and Universe purple. I have a hard time picking a favorite version, but the BW returns version is well worth it, in my opinion. It's closer to the show than any of the others, and looks good. $40 is steep, but occasionally it's worth it to me to pay that much for a figure I want.

I had always been pondering getting another obsidian, since it was years between me getting the original, green figure, and then actually seeing the ending of beast machines. I was like, wait, why the hell'd they make the toy green? it'll probably just be way cheaper just to simply repaint the figure when I have a chance to.

I would go for the Universe version myself.

I'll try and get some comparison shots up in the next few days if you still want them. In the mean time, I have some comparison shots between BWR Obsidian and the CGI version here if you're interested: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showpost.php?p=2114239&postcount=3701
