I think the thing is awesome, but I'm glad we got the armada version instead.

I was not aware Hasbro did something to embarass themselves in the face of collectors.

As I recall, Orson said Neocron 'didn't work', which I assume means 'this toy is unstable' or 'not cost-effective at this pricepoint'.

I believe it had alot to do with pricepoint versus the actual size of the toy. From what I understand... this guy stands about the size of Optimal Optimus. Or something like that, but it's complexity makes it have a higher production cost... kind of like RID Trains if I remeber what I read in his post about that.

I wish someone would just reveal the patent or tm website where these are all being found instead of "scooping" everything.

Don't you mean the original G1 prototype?

Which was a really ugly ball with arms, legs and head.

Neocron did not leave the prototype stage I believe since Takara figured it is too different from the depiction of Unicron in the movie and BW Neo.

naah, what he meant was that 'I dont like this toy and I want to make my own Unicron'

    :p

I wish I could have Neocron here :(

He'd fit in real nice with the Neo G1 "Classics" Line. :D

I'm still amazed by the proto, even though I don't think I'll see the day this will ever be made.:)
Otherwise, excellent pics for me to reference from when I need to draw Unicron in planet mode.:D

I thought Armada Unicron was enough to make anyone forget about this thing. Amada Unicron has a full ring, a nicer planet mouth, and is damn near being exactly like the movie version when Transformed. I'll can live with a less round planet mode so long as the robot better embodies Unicron :)

Honestly, I prefer what we got. The front end of the planet mode doesn't do it for me, and with a backpack like that he looks uber topheavy.
Transformation wise though, he reminds me a lot of Primus. I guess HasTak took the overall concept and reevaluated it when they made their other planetformer.

Tell it to come back, this one will never be for sale.

I've never been that impressed with Neocron. I'll take the Armada version over this any day of the week.

Preach it brother man! I like Armade unicron, except his feet always seemed like someone just didn't want to take the time. It always seems that transformation becomes simpler the bigger they get and unicron was not an exception.

I don't know about you guys, but I can make room on my shelf for it. Right next to my other Unicrons. :D
