Can't fix bad TT engineering.

Hoping a Transform Element or Magic Square will make a better version.

Also, there’s nothing bad about the engineering. They just chose to make a nigh perfect robot mode at the expense of the spider mode. The actual engineering is excellent, but you’re trying to achieve a transformation that is simply impossible.

 

The Megatron from Infinite Transformations blew MP36 out of the water.

I really need to stop buying TT "masterpieces" when they come out. I end up replacing them with superior KOs and end up buying the same bots twice.

I feel insulted that TT even applies the word Masterpiece to many of their recent releases (Sunstreaker was flawed but acceptable, but they have had more misses than hits).

 

For what its worth.....I swore this figure off a day into owning it, I was appalled by just about everything about it. (Especially the transformation simply "not working")
...you can even see some posts of mine earlier in this thread.

Fast forward a few weeks later, I have fully grasped how this figure works, and it has become one of my favorites. I can honestly say it was complete user error that was forcing me to arrive at this conclusion.

I love converting it back and forth and simply use the web tilted backwards and allow gravity to hold the spider on it.

Just throwin' my 2 cents out there.

 

I'm glad you said this, because I was starting to feel like I'm the only person who is still loving this figure. Maybe it's the stockholm syndrome talking, but I've totally learned to love the beast mode for what it is.

 

Nope, its just a case of "the beast mode is awesome", that's all.

 

MP Sunstreaker was the all new character release I picked up from the G1 line. The only newer G1 Takara MP releases I'm open to getting are the toon color versions of Hasui era molds which are of better quality and far more reasonably priced.

I received both Bumblebee and Blackarachnia last week. Was a hard choice deciding which one to open first, but I went with Bumblebee first and BA second, leaving best for last, IMHO. And I think she’s absolutely great. I was able to read all the comments and tips beforehand, which allowed me to be able to transform her perfectly the first time, and she is currently changed back into alt mode, and attached to her web super-solidly (I can hold the web upside down with her hanging off if). I think both modes look great: spider mode is compromised, but her bot mode is truly sublime.

Yeah, I get she stands better that way, but it's a small pet-peeve of mine. It takes an already compromised beast mode and makes it look silly, in my view.

But I can't help but feel she would have worked better as a SHELL-FORMER. Honestly, the legs sticking out, the gaps you see on top, etc. ... A shell could have cleaned all of that up. Heck, it could be a folding shell, just so that fans don't get red with rage!  

As one of the few, bizarrely sexy TFs in a sentient race that has no sex....   ... ehh, gotta grab her at some point!   But alas, the rising TakTom prices have pushed me out of the MP line!

Well, to me, not really, no.
That really bad spider mode coupled with the insane price for a toy smaller than a Deluxe puts me off. I will rather wait for Hasbro to revisit BW again and make a toy of her similar to Generations Rattrap or Rhinox. I do not need 100% cartoon accuracy, just good looks in both forms.

 

There is no reality in which that beast mode is "awesome." It's a mess. Just because it's probably the best they could do doesn't make it less of a mess. I can deal with the panel-y and gappy nature of the other MP Beast Wars alt modes but just leaving her knees sticking out of the spider's abdomen like that is awful. There's a time for shellforming and this was it.
