Collectible die-cast pin via Robotkingdom
Is this the slot for the hourglass part of her abdomen? Because mine won't tab in either.
EDIT: I think I got it, had to angle things a bit better.
Finally I got mine after paying a big amount to Mexico\'s Aduana. She\'s in Xalapa now, the Xalapeño city.
She is absolutely fantastic!
Incredibly done and achieved. Spider mode looks like... a spider!! So tiny and delicate, just as BlackWidows are.
Transformation for me ran smoothly.
So I unboxed my copy of BA today. I appreciated reading everyone's hints and tips here before I attempted the first transformation, and they were invaluable in keeping me from making some horrible mistakes. The instructions packed in the box are seriously way too small to follow, especially with certain steps involving tiny parts and tabs that need some finesse to get right. Like others have mentioned, the ankle joints and ankle tilts (some of the smallest parts at that) were the tightest joints on the entire figure. Getting the chestplate through the armature holding the hourglass panel was tricky; I feel like I got lucky in terms of finding the right angle to slide it through the gap without scratching against anything. She cleans up really well in bot mode when everything is lined up correctly.
My only quibble with my copy is that the spider legs don't have much grip at the ball joints. They'll hold a pose in bot mode, but they can't support the weight of the figure in beast mode no matter how I position the legs. The best I can do is have the spider sit on the tabs on the inverted codpiece on the bottom of the main body, and the legs will hold up the small front half.
Overall she's a beautiful display piece, particularly in bot mode, which is how she'll spend 99% of her shelf life.
probably a long shot but is there anyone here who ordered blackarachnia that comes with the pin and doesnt need it?
you know the black piece that holds all the spider leg ball joints? you can rotate that so it sits more parallel to the table, so that it elevates the spider body above the table and rests on the spider legs. the reason why this works is that the spider legs can’t articulate past a certain point, which props the spider upwards.
Oh, good call. Thanks!
Right. I was just finding it very hard to get the missile to connect to the leg tabs. I’ll try again tonight.
The only two things I dislike are: the quality of the Anchor thread and her teeth which are not painted properly.
Time for a little application of paint and better silk thread to correct that.
I didn't even know the pin existed until recently. Now I NEED it.
why does it look so much like the matrix?
Because it is?
a little unrelated to blackarachnia herself...
i wish takara would’ve designated a new prefix for the beast wars line, much like they did using mpm for the movie line. but now that mp is used for both g1 and beast wars, it makes it just a little confusing to differentiate between the two lines. i thought it was because i’m a completionist and want to keep the numbers complete if i ever bail out of the beast wars line, but then again i’ve sold off all the earlier g1 releases that had a newer version releases so i no longer have all the numbers anyhow. maybe i’m just OCD lol
But Beast Wars is G1...
i never watched beast wars so i’m not claiming to be an expert, but that series came out a decade after the origins g1 animated release, and it’s computer animated, big difference between the two.
Beast Wars is in the G1 continuity, I believe they were trying to say. If one says "is G1" to mean, is part of the original 80s toyline and/or cartoons, obviously it's not. But it is the last/most recent in-continuity G1 storyline. (And arguably even wraps up that timeline with a happy ending. Arguably.) So in the same way the later Japanese G1 continuities and their versions of BW are considered G1 or G1-linked in Japan, Beast Wars/Machines can be considered G1 in the West. In that sense at least.
oh dang, a while new figure? I am just getting an extra spider leg sent to me
Last comment to follow up my first impressions. I do have to say MP-46 doesn't look at all like a $160 CAD toy. I get that it's not a CHUG figure and it's positioned as a high-end adult collectible. I also get that TT is raising prices on these figures across the board. It's just getting harder to feel like I got my money's worth.
She’s great and will forever be in bot mode..... Because I’m terrified of spiders....
ahh, i see, makes sense. i was talking about the toy lines but if the stories are a continuation then i can respect that. thanks for the clarification!
