    The snake also could any established beast era character such as Corhada from Beast Wars Neo, or Nightviper from the Beast Machines toyline.

    I don’t know if anyone’s said this yet, but I think they could get around the whole “why does Primal look like Optimus Prime?” By calling back to the fact that in Bumblebee, Shockwave had a faded Autobot logo on his arm. What if he created the Maximals as a way to save Energon reserves mid way into the war, before he turned decepticon? As a result, the 5-7 maximals are sent to earth when Cybertron falls to prevent the Decepticons from harnessing the technology and land in Africa. Cue Seekers being sent to Earth to retrieve them for experimentation. It would be a call back to Hearts of Steel with the whole Shockwave connection, and his fascination with recreating the Autobot-Decepticon war for his own pleasure.

    You are putting way too much stock into one excruciatingly minor detail that has NEVER come up in any context whatsoever.

    I mean, the whole point of Shockwave was to be a marketing smokescreen to the fact Sentinel is the actual villain. It wouldn't even make sense to make Shockwave a turncoat Autobot when you already have the center stage main villain quite literally BEING a turncoat Autobot.
