I never got into the BW stuff the first timw around. Since then, i've gotten more into TF lore and series than I was at that time, but I was wondering how close the comics and cartoon for this series tie in? I know that in the G1 comic and cartoon there were a lot of similarities, but many differences too, and I was just wanting to know if they kept Beast Wars any closer to a set continuity with each other or not? Or do we even know yet, considering the series is just coming out...? I'm thinking of going back and watching the cartoons before reading this new batch of comics and wasn't sure if it'd really help or not. Many Thanks!
Everything I've heard implies IDW's mini-series takes place within the cartoon's continuity. Of course, it's easy to do that when the show characters aren't the focus of the comic.
Well considering this is the first comic from the BW era it's not known fully yet. However info that has been passed on to us indicate that this will take place during the BW show's 3rd season, but there will be some reason (not revealed yet) that will make sure the show characters do not come into contact with with comic cast
According to the 12 page preview the reason is that Magmatron's group is what's refered to as "Temporally out of phase" In essence while his(refering to Magmatron) group has a physical presence in the time period.Their temporal signature is out of sync with that reality. Thus they can't be seen or interact with Optimus Primal's group Read the 12 page preview and it'll be explained
I really like what it seems to me they are doing by using the characters from the toys not used in the cartoon. I wasn't going to pick this up until I saw the preview.
