Wasn't Blackarachnia a Maximal before she became TM2? Why is she not in the team shot on the front page? Did she not change insignia or something and it's only an "official maximal" shot?

Before she was selling a new to...err, transmetalized, BA was only a maximal in the sense that Dinobot was. It wasn't until the Data Sphere changed her that she became a full fledged Maximal.

I think it was just a case of "we are only gonna put each character model in one image" so it made sense to put her in original format on the Predicon image and TM2 on the Maximal image I guess. You could also argue that Dinobot 2 switched sides right at the end. Interesting the Transmutate appears on neither.

Happy Birthday to Beast Wars... Funny how it and I turn 20 this year.

Only when I watched the show on Netflix did I learn how amazing this show was. Sure the animation does not hold up as well as it could but the stories, characters, and concepts brought were amazing.

My favorite series of all time... watched it every morning before high school. obviously i grew up with G-1 and hold it fondly to my heart, but the story telling in BW is spectacular

Happy Birthday Beast Wars, or Beasties as it was called here in Canada. Like many others, it revived my interest in Transformers. I was a G1 kid, and was in high school when Beast Wars came out. The show still stands the test of time for its impressive storytelling. And the toys got me back into collecting, I still remember being wowed at the articulation they had compared to the blocky and stiff G1 bots. The only show that has come close to it for me was Animated in the years since. Would love to see a Beast Wars revival at some point.

When I was younger (around 10) I despised Beast Wars. I remember seeing a Universe Classics 2.0 Cheetor in stores and easily passing on it. A couple of years went by and I decided to give the show a try. I was hooked! Everything from the characters to the stories. I didn't even find the animation all that bad (mainly seasons 2 and 3). I now regard the Beast Era as my favorite aspect of the brand and really regret passing up on that Cheetor (aftermarket prices are too much). Maximals, maximize!

What character models they chose was pretty arbitrary, if you ask me.

Happy 20th to the series that made me a Transformers fan. I still remember being eight years old and seeing the first episode one morning before school.

I'll have to give this article a proper look-see when I'm off work later today, but it's looking like it's a great read. :)

Given when I was born, Beast Wars was Transformers to me. It made me a fan and will forever be my favorite. I loved this series.

I'm gonna ask a question that might be controversial.

Does Beast Wars still hold up as a decent show today? (Take out the nostalgia factor) This is coming from someone who didn't grow up with BW nor saw one episode of it. I've seen plenty of screenshots of it. I am planning on tackling it this year and wanted to know if there are "issues" I should be aware of. (Story pacing, tone, etc)

Speaking as someone who didn't grow up with BW and is used to more modern CGI... yes, Beast Wars still holds up. The animation might be old but it is very smooth and expressive, and the writing manages to draw attention away from any shortcomings it may have.

Pacing-wise season 1 is full of mostly one-off episodes, though there is some continuity in there. It's mostly around late S1 that the plot really starts to shift into gear, and from Season 2 on out the series sticks to that. Still, even the one-shot episodes are extremely entertaining-- "Power Surge" happens to be one of my personal favorites.

As for the tone... it's a fairly serious show, but there's a lot of comedy in there. It's half clever jokes and half Looney Toons style slapstick. The latter is at its best when directed at Waspinator.

Glad you're willing to give it a shot. Hope you enjoy it.

Other than the CGI, it's still holds strong with the character development and the stories. Especially later in the series when the staff really got clicking strong.

Do remember, early in season one the staff was still finding their way. By the later half, the tone changes and as I said. That's when stuff became really good as the staff really knew where they wanted to send this series towards.
