It's....only slightly better than what we have now. And if you ever want to use him outside of Beast Wars (like say a pre-earth form) then that really doesn't work.

But he's *always* a Predacon.

Between BWII, Machines, and RiD, there's enough ways to mix in vehicle modes if they feel they need to. And there's plenty of ammunition for slipping in familiar G1 names with non G1 designs.

One big example: Do a Lioconvoy at retail, and in the US call him "Leo Prime." Voila, you've just established this new figure as Prime with a beast mode.

Magnaboss gives you Ironhide and Prowl, Silverbolt pops up twice in BW, there's a Soundwave, a Laserbeak, even Grimlock.

If you mix in Japanese BW, Starscream has a figure. Problem solved.

A Longrack that you can actually transform and a Mach Kick that doesn't fall apart if you touch it?

 

I mean, yeah, agree that there's ways they could do that, but I just also think Hasbro would also want to keep with this kind of "half-and-half" focus thing they're starting with Kingdom. Half Beast Wars to give those fans more of what they've been asking for for so long, half Armada to not keep that decently large UT contingent of fans waiting too much longer for updates.

 

Just putting it out there but I don't think all the SS 86 figs are ones that didn't make it into the main WFC line. Now here me out. Scourge, yes. He has the gimmick ports like the rest do and Cyclonus does. However, Hotrod and Kup don't have any aside from weapon storage. I could also be wrong but it seems to be a different approach to the Beast Wars figs as they don't seem to fit with the same formula either unless you are counting the ports at the bottom of the feet on them, but that is just what I've noticed so far.

 

I'm so happy BW Megatron wasn't leaked by TonTon. Seeing this beautiful photo instead of some grainy shit with it only half-transformed is a nice breather. I can't wait for Dinobot and Optimus Primal.

 

Why would they get rid of Unicron, Megatron would just keep floating in space till  

 

Quite interesting that it mentions how there will be other Rattrap toys, at different scales. So maybe they realized "yeah, the Core size Rattrap is accurate, but alot of people would want a larger, more detailed toy - so let's just make both"? It didn't sound like they are referring to older toys, but ones that would come out in the near future?

It's moulded on the inside of the dino-skin. Could Megatron's backpack actually detach to form something? A little battle platform or DNA-scanner or... something?

Megs looks great so far, although I would like a better look at his backpack to see if it can condense any more than it already is.

 

Man, I'm gonna be spending way too much on Transformers next year. HasTak is on FIRE with these Kingdom & SS86 designs. The designers must be high-fiving themselves all over the place.

Meg's T-Rex mode looks FANTASTIC. I'm especially impressed by how clean the underbelly is; no gaps or robot kibble at all!

Bot mode looks a bit heavy on the back kibble, but I'll wait to see it actually transformed & posed properly. Looks like just about every part is in the most awkward possible position in that official pic, as usual.

Cyclonus is an easy buy; alt and bot mode are both spot on. (Would also love an IDW/MTMTE re-tool at some point.)

These are the best-looking mainline figures I've seen in years. What an amazing time to be a Transformers fan.

 

I wonder if Megatron's dino head, back pack, and tail are removable armor pieces? Kind of like with Shockwave.

 

For those of yall worried about Cyclonus' knees, the double hinge will be able to collapse exactly like this

Beast Megatron looks lit, I love that dinosaur mode!

 

Especially since Beast Wars is supposed to be a continuation (I guess, it's the best way I can describe it) of G1, so technically both Predacon Megatron and Decepticon Megatron are from the same series. "Predacon Megatron" would've made more sense, but eh. At the end of day it isn't the name on the box that matters the most.

 

Disappointed by the prices, but at least we can get some kind of full figures for 10 dollars. May get some of the predacons and any basic figures that spike my interest.
