Not really off topic. I bought it when it first came out. What a great piece of nostolgia. For me it was worth the $25.
so...i've been thinking about buying the voltron box sets, but havent...and have always kinda wanted to see the japanese versions of these shows, but am wondering if it will make sense since what i'm familiar with is old school american voltron...not really sure what i should do...and buying all 3 seems a bit much...especially since i'd probably watch the japanese one less then the american... and i may get the new voltron omnibus too...i got all the issues except the last one, which was never released, so i'd like to finish that series...
Great, anyone want the first 3 Voltron Tins? I thought I had more time until this was released, otherwise I would have never bought the dubs.
This is one case where I actually prefer the American version. But it's definitely tempting to see it uncut and uncensored.
Last I heard, they were. Just no idea when. You know, I hear this from a LOT of people. Can you explain why? Not that I want to argue with your opinion on this, but I've never seen the original (Beyond the OP sequence) so I've always wondered about why this seems to be a commonly held opinion.
Never having seen the original Japanese version myself, I would probably prefer the English voice cast and music from a nostalgic standpoint. I grew up on this show in the US. Still curious about the Japanese storyline though.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone prefer Go Lion over Voltron. Hell, I think Japan likes Voltron better. From what I gather, the music is one of the big issues. Apparently it sucks bad. If I'm not mistaken, the pacing is pretty bad, too.
The music sounds cheesy, but after seeing the trailer, I am excited to buy the Go lion sets. After seeing Voltron behead a robeast, Lotor murk one of his own henchmen for apparently no reason, a team of mice throwing a grenade cannonball into someone's mouth, and the princess being spanked by her nanny, I'm inclined to think I will be thoroughly entertained, laugh a lot, and enjoy this by not expecting a serious anime. The US version which I grew up with was full of happy go lucky "lets save the day!" moments. The japanese version looks to have a bunch of "wtf?!" moments followed by the optimistic smiles of the main characters as they celebrate the utter decimation they inflicted with just 1 slice of Voltron's sword. Followed by the obviously meant-to-be uplifting theme song of the japanese version.
yeah i agree with pinoy...the nostalgic reasons are why i want the american version too...though i would like to see the japanese someday....just not sure how, since i doubt netflix will carry it...
Voltron has better sound effects too, for example the lion roars in Voltron are FAR supieror and sound a heck of alot better than Golion. Also the music of course, I mean 1, plus 1, plus 1, plus 1, plus 1 makes me laugh .

Just a reminder that this comes out next Tuesday and Best Buy is selling it for $21.99 Also Golion collection 2 has a release date of 8/12!
