That looks rather like one of those IDW designs - is that the point ? I wonder if Dr. Wu might make a faceplate Retracted Beast Hunters Jackie head too ? since his head is a little different now. But I guess that might depend on if the upgrades are on all the time once obtained or just switched on like a Powerranger morphing for battle and switched off again when not.. Anyway that Rodimus works quite well overall - I'm guessing it's the wings that are making it work. a Spikey DeadEnd head might be nice too.
Yeah, I noticed how the vehicle modes are really similar, and the robot modes have some things in common too. I wasn't sure of the downswept wings first, but they work as a phoenix motif. The head would work too if he had a mouth. Only thing that doesn't work are the proportions. Bit too stocky for Rodimus.
I noticed now that this image has shown up, a bunch of regular Prime Wheeljack-to-Rodimus customs have popped up. Maybe you were a silent inspiration to do this with regular Wheeljacks too?
May i say although i am late to the party i just wanted to say that this is fantastic and made me buy a BH Wheeljack, some more paint and put my very limited painting skills to work and create this admittedly not very good go at the repaint.
