I enjoy these package pictures. Get to noticed some interesting stuff that kid me never did. Like seeing a purple Maximal logo above Scourge’s name.

Primal has a two step transformation, ugly balljoint elbows and what looks to be limited articulation. Kind of a half assed attempt at the character...

It's a cheap gimmick toy though, kind of the equivalent of the spark armor figures from Cyberverse. Nobody is really looking to those to be amazing quality figures. This is one of the cheaper toys squarely aimed at kids. In that context, is it really that bad?

Man, I love it. It actually looks like Primal. I mean, did Bayformers Sideswipe look in ANY way like Sideswipe? It was just a name. But this, I'm pleased with. I was half expecting a used tampon to be called Rattrap.

Perhaps i'm in the minority, but these kinds of toys were throw aways when i was a kid. The kind that your out of touch grandparents might get you and that get played with once & quickly end up at the bottom of the toybox.

Its a poorly executed mold with little to no play value by todays standards.

Dude these are meant for little kids, like pre-school age. These are just like the Rescue Bot toys or the old playskool transformers from the early 2000's.

Did you read my post or just get triggered? I'm holding the toy againtst todays standards and then taking that comparison and rolling back the clock to how i would have reacted to toys of that relative caliber when i was a kid. Sure, I could have just been a weird kid, but i'm willing to bet these are gift only items... no kid is going to ask for this mold.

Even the playskool example you cited is more interesting from a childs perspective. Bright colors, bubbly proportions, etc... primal on the other hand is dreary with minimal features on the shiloette... not too fun for a kid.

Like others have said, it's not supposed to be "up to snuff" for what collectors look for, but rather meant so that kids who couldn't have ANY RotB Optimus Primal otherwise can.
BUT, no one can say you have to accept it as good enough and I get your point.

In fact, your hypothetical happened to me and my brothers:
out with grandma, she sees us "Ooh!" over a helicopter kinda like
    62578_I.jpg
and we beg to get just one for all 3 of us to share, and with a knowing wink grandma says "we will see what Santa can do"

Come Christmas, we EACH get a helicopter!
    ...

    ...

    That looks like this:
    s-l400.jpg

There's some value in learning the other side of "thought that counts" as a child.

No you are ignoring my point. Some little kids are going to see the new movie and want the Primal they see on the screen. This is meant to be an entry level toy for little kids based on how primal looks in the movie.

Honestly I’m fine with it, if there’s another core figure with a moving head I’m even more fine with it tbh. I just want something to scale with my deluxe figures, I think a picture with a small Primal holding the Matrix from Primes chest would be sick in real life

So when my brother and I moved out, we each took "our" Characters with us. I'm happy to say I have finally added depthcharge back into my collection! 20220316_165729.jpg
