Heh, I guess it is tragic in a way. He's a really fun character, it's clear writers and voice actor were having a bit of a laugh with him. I never really worked out how eh came back form the dead after he was in effect vaporised during The Agenda... but I guess they played fast and loose with the permeance of death in Beast wars anyway.

That's kinda always been the point, right? "It is my duty as a Maximal... and a heroic character..." He's specifically that way to play off the grimdark edge and moral issues a lot of the other characters deal with.

Oh I get it, he just feels our of place amoung the Maximal. All the other 'wacky' characters are on the Pred team. I did grow to like him over time and even more so in Beast Machines actually.

I've been rewatching Beast Wars, introducing it to a friend. On season 3 now.

I have to say, watching it now, I really feel like Silverbolt is like... that teenage incel's idea of a "nice guy". The whole "I won't hit a lady that is actively shooting at us", while then going apeshit and ravaging everyone else... then how jealous he gets of literally anyone else looking at her... I swear, if the show went on much longer Blackarachnia would be getting pretty damn sick of his shit pretty quickly.

As an adult, I find him super cringey.

You're on-point about that. That moment was sort of a weird reverse-baptism for the character where if he survived should have been a great moment of triumph in service to his Queen (his ideal).
BUT he was "reborn" in season 3 to essentially be the show's Moe to Quickstrike-Larry and Waspinator-Curly. That part always bothered me.

Well yes but we all saw him basically crumble into atoms. I know many other preds got blown to pieces time and time again to be back next week(mostly for comic effect which I thoroughly approve of) but this particular death looked more permanent.. but nope... And yet Ravage, deadly survivor of the great war, was destroyed instantly in a much smaller looking explosion in the same 3-parter. Like I said 'fast and loose' (again I have no problem with this, it's a kid's show and a great one)

I think the implication of Optimal Situation is that Ravage could have been repaired had the spider-bots not knocked his head off the cliff. Tarrantulus was in the same explosion and same state as Ravage, but was pulled together by those bots, while Ravage's parts were unrecoverable, due to one being dropped into a river and ending up who knows where.

Wow. The dislike for Transmutate surprises me.

Transmutate is actually one of my favourite episodes of the entire series, right down to the X-Files and Twin Peaks influenced music.

    Top 5, easily.

Dude, I had both X9 and BC Tigatron once upon a time... and somehow I NEVER knew they used Ravage's body!

its only implied, but tigatrons spark goes into the ocean/lake/whatever that ravages head was dropped into and he pops out in his transmetal body, whereas with airazor it specifically shows her spark go into a stasis pod that held a blank protoform

OR... The story no longer required Ravage ;)

Wasn't Tarantulas already up and running before Ravages head got tosses into the water?

i always just took it as megatron didnt care enough to salvage him, especially since his best weapon, the ship, had been destroyed

I thought the severed head was being disregarded by the arachnoids while they were gathering pieces of TR, one of which kind of bumped it over a cliffedge to the water....

Nope, the spider-bots were literally gathering the pieces of tarrantulus together when they knocked Ravages head down

Only 2 things I liked about that episode was when.

Megatron: "Transmutate?... Yes, an ugly name for an ugly creature."

And, Optimus stating that he was tired of losing friends. Really gives you a sense that the Maximals care about each other.

Ah yes.. I wasn't paying full attention at the time. It was still rather 'convenient', I'm surprised they went so far as to 'explain' it though ;)

Anyway I like how cartoonish Beast Wars was, some of it was straight out of the Loony Toons. It didn't take itself too seriously, which (Although I still love it) Beast Machines did a bit too much.
If thats the case why repair Tarantulas, he did betray him and was ready to have him shipped home as a prisoner.
