Yeah, honestly, it's been weird. Beast Wars saved the franchise. Transformers probably would have gone the same way as a bunch of different 80's franchises, like he-man or Voltron. We could have very well seen a reboot around now, as revivals are all the rage right now, but I doubt we would have had everything we had over the lsat 25 years.

Once Beast Machines ended, it was like they felt that show destroyed everything. G1, Beast Wars and Beast Machines were all one continuity. I would LOVE to return to that world some day, but for whatever reason once they rebooted the show with Prime once, they felt like they needed to reboot Transformers over and over and over and over again, every time with Prime, Bumblebee, Ratchet, etc. I have to assume it's working for them, but it means that they get to simultaneously play to the nastalgia of the 80's kids, sell to the current generation of fans, and completely ignore the in-between.

It's a real shame, because from a narrative and character standpoint, nothing they have done has exceeded Beast Wars in quality so far. I had such high hopes for Prime, but they really didn't go anywhere with it.

I never cared for Uprising. It always struck me as all of FunPub original fiction: Cringy. It's best when ignored.

not all funpub was bad and cringy, dawn of futures past was pretty good, as was their finale for the 3h wreckers storyline

I will defend Beast Machines. There are things about it I dislike, but it is one of the best series to talk about, even if it isn't the best one to watch.

Uprising was wonderful. I wish Dawn Of The Predacus had been nixed and they instead placed the 2016 toys in the Uprising Universe like they originally planned.
I've generally been happy with most of their fiction come to think of it. There's some stuff I haven't read yet; but overall I dig it. I still feel like the 3H era stuff was superior though. That said; when it comes to outside BW fiction stuff I think The Gathering and The Ascending are definitely the weakest; although I appreciate them for what they are as just IDW doing their own IDW thing.
Also I agree with @Joalro -- Beast Machines is totally worth defending. I enjoy where it took the continuity and wish Universe could have properly wrapped and made way for Transtech.

Dawn of the predacus was originally supposed to be in the uprising verse as well, as is though it’s hot garbage that is incompatible with anything else bw related, including the show

Speaking of Uprising am I the only one who thinks POTP Optimal Optimus would be perfect to repurpose into a potential Uprising Optimus Primal that is if he wasn't part of the Uprising universe to begin with? I mean one can look at the Prime gimmick he has as more of a suit the core robot designed to help him in certain missions.

I thought it had some enjoyable twists and turns.... But yeah. It's just so.... Unconnected.
I think that would have been pretty cool. I think he died early on in Uprising Universe like off-page; but so did Rattrap supposedly and he popped up in Alone Together after his supposed death lol
But yeah. I think it would have been a neat pairing with Lio's upgrade.

I wish we hadn't gotten PotP OPOP and instead just got Star Saber has Hasbro originally intended. Give us a Voyager Primal and it's all good. I think if fans knew the gimmick ahead of time, Star Saber would have won hands down. the POTP Primal toy is... not good. It's poor execution, and a pretty weak premise. And this is coming from someone who likes this stuff. But you put him against Optimus and Rodimus and Primal just... goes bananas.

nothing you said here is factual and fans had a good inkling of what the gimmick would be prior to the vote, in fact by all appearances hasbro wanted deathsaurus to win due to him making it to the final round as a wild card despite losing the prior round

There's no warranty but if your figure wasn't broken out of the box you should be fine. A number of units had a piece inside the crotch assembled crooked, which caused tension and broke a bunch of figures. Basically all breakage happened in the box or straight out of the box.

I don't believe there are any cases where damage developed later over time.

All figures sport swirly hair-lines on the crotch, however these aren't actual cracks but merely a result of how the molten plastic met and dried in the mold.

Okay, maybe what I said is a bit convoluted. I was remembering that the early concept stages for Starscream showed him as a pre-mold for Star Saber, before the vote contest was out. Hasbro’s Leaked From Cybertron: Power Of The Primes Evolution Rodimus Prime - Transformers News - TFW2005 So I take that as speculation that Hasbro was planning on Star Saber winning.

As for not knowing what the gimmick was, we knew it would be "evolution." That's about it. I still maintain if we knew it would be a smaller version of the robot going in a larger version of a robot, I, for one, would not have voted for Primal. BW character or not.

While the execution of the gimmick wasn’t good , OPOP is easily the best out of the 3 . Rodimus being the weakest with that aoe op style backpack , and with Primal being easily detachable via knocking out one pin , gave us both a Primal and a OPOP figure while the other 2 doesn’t really give you that option. It also boasts the best articulation out of the bunch .

Do agree that the Primal hoverboard was weak , but that doesn’t detract that the OPOP being pretty good . Only really bothersome issue is with the head only on a swivel limiting the head articulation and the stickers but that’s line wide issue .

I would say Optimus was far and away the best of the three, while Primal is the worse. He's just this floppy mess that doesn't really do anything. Rodimus disappoints me the most though. He's so close to be great. So close. But he's just stuck in the middle of mediocrity. But at least I don't actively dislike him as I do Primal.
