Just got a nice email from BBTS in regards to the FP Function x-1 and Toys for Tots program.

I'll post for those without FB>

BBTS & FansProject Toys for Tots Donation!

Good News! The Marines just picked up the Toys for Tots donation! We'd like to thank everyone who helped to donate over 4000 individual toys and figures by preordering the FansProject Function X-1 Mystery Figure. FansProject deserves a special thanks for taking part in this with the mystery figure. You've all done a great thing and thousands of children will have a great Christmas because of your help!

Given what's been going on lately this is a sort of thing that makes ya smile.

So how did this work? I know that a $20 donation went towards TFT when we ordered the mystery figure, but does this then get applied towards $20 of existing BBTS stock that they then donate to TFT? Interesting way for them to both clear the books of excess stock and then take that stock as a tax write off. I suppose it really is a win-win-win for all involved! BBTS gets to shift stock off their books, fans get a great figure, and kiddies in need get great toys.

Thing is though... the toys go to kids who might otherwise never have Bumblebee nor Optimus Prime... so even if it were true... they'd probably be happy since hey... Transformers!

It was $20 worth of toys at wholesale cost, not retail. Meaning they donated $20 worth of figures for what it cost them, meaning more figures donated per figure sold

It is pretty impressive. Nice to see FP and a lot of the online retailers doing this. That is quite a stack of toys that they donated. For something that FP knows most of us would purchase anyway, this is a nice gesture on their part.

Rock on! So that's where all those RiD Bees went to. XD All kidding aside, a very good cause to be a part of. I had already donated to TFT at work (we had our own TFT donation box courtesy of the Air Force; who says the Marines get to have all the fun?) but was game to get on board this collaboration as well.

Joel from BBTS here - the shipment is actually less than 5% bumblebees! We included a wide mix of items, trying to focus on things the kids would recognize (like popular TF, Star Wars, and Marvel characters) It is definitely a win win for everyone involved and thanks to all who particupated.
