Do you guys like them or not and why ?
It's really mixed for me. First of all, the first movie always is special for me. It helped me look at the franchise in a pretty significant way and motivated me to learn so much more of the franchise. The sequels have been disappointing and yet I still come back because there is always something in them that I say ' That's cool.'
It's not as simple as that.
I like some of the characters like Jazz, Crosshairs and Ratchet. Others too but I've learned to not get attached to characters anymore in these movies seeing how easily they can just get offed. Other things I don't like about Bayformers is the outplayed racists stereotypes but other than that the movies are ok at least. There alot of potential that needs and could've been used hat wasn't or won't be.
Nothing for Wyattformers, Transfurmans, or Budianskyformers?
Never seen them
I like that I can select both yes AND no in this poll.
These threads never typically end well...
^ They only end badly when an end is forced upon them.
And, c'mon. This is PROGRESS for this guy's threads, lol.
...pretty sure it is.
Even though I don't really like the designs much, the movies were enjoyable with the exception of the last one. As for the 5th installment? I guess I'll wait and see. However, I have to disagree with the "racist stereotype" sentiment. These things are supposed to be sentient alien beings. And that's with a heavy emphasis on ALIEN. These sentient alien beings have always been known through any continuity to be robots in disguise. Key word is, "disguise." When they've watched just about as much human behavior as they have, they're going to pick up on some things and even emulate them should they need to communicate with us. What easier way than to talk like us? It'd be no different if anyone of us were to go to another country to live, one that we've never been to before, and try to blend in.
I guess I just don't understand the need to feel like robots in disguises are being racists when they're doing the only thing they know how in order to blend in and not be noticed as easily.
The first movie is really good, the rest have often failed to deliver the tone the first movie had. I love the movie designs and the first film, but aside from a few rare moments, cool looking robots is pretty much all the movies provide nowadays.
Definitely a yes from me.
While there are certain aspects of the films that I wish could be better, overall they've entertained me well and satisfy the very reason why I go to the movies.
Yes because I love the aesthetics and designs, more so in the first three movies. I like the story elements it brings and I like it's additions such as Brains and the balls to make Hound fat.
Bayformers... I never really liked that term but it helps describe what IMHO real transformers could possibly look like. I'm also anxious to know what name the fandom will come up with to describe the transformers the next director inserts.
Designwise yes. Specially TF1 robots. When they were far from tad bit and very innovative. Specially Blackout. You won't see anything like it again.
I liked most of them in the first 3 films (with a few exceptions, twins, jetfire & Que) up until AOE. They didn't look like Transformers anymore, more like metallic people dressed for a fashion show on LSD. The robotic facial hair on Hound was stupid and Drift was just way too over the top with racist stereotyping (a bot that looks like a samurai, has an oriental accent and recites haikus. (extremely ridiculous) What's next??? A bot dressed like a Spartan warrior with a Greek accent quoting philosophy and maybe consuming baklava flavored energon???? (I'm Greek, I can say this)
Not a fan of the designs. In the few moments of characterization I haven't liked them as characters either. Ugh and we wouldn't be cursed with so much Bumblebee if it wasn't for the movies.
I do like seeing what they can do with practical effects and it's a chance to see where CGI is at to say if the CGI in other movies is good or bad. I enjoy Mystery Science Theater 3000ing the movies. It's like one of the old B movies except with the latest in effects and a crazy budget.
There are VERY few things I like about them.
1st one was heaven. I first saw it when i was five, and i loved the movie, the figures, just all of it. Im actually starting a collection of the 07' figures now!
2nd movie was... It was alright. I personally didnt mind it. It was cool to see Megatron actually looking up to someone, and Jetfire was pretty sick in it.
3rd movie I wasn't the biggest fan of, it just didnt resonate well.
4th... Well this movie was just downright shit xD I couldn't stand it. They kill off all my favorite characters, then they have a weird gun face guy, and the whole plot was messed up. The humans in this one were unbearable. The first movie and 2nd movie were the only 2 with good humans. 3rd was ok, fourth made me want to shoot myself. Hopefully TF 5 can pick up the series.
