Hey guys, I just had a few questions and want to hear peoples thoughts or theories, you might even have answers. Hopefully can get some conversation going.

Please keep in mind this contains SPOILERS for AOE.

In Bay's Transformer universe, in all seriousness where do Transformers come from? how are the sentient? How are the alive? If the All-Spark could create life, The Matrix seems to restore it - are there new Transformers coming on-line? since the All-spark is gone, that we know of.

In ROTF the decepticons have hatchlings, that require feeding. I assume they had sparks and don't exactly grow on trees. This implies a birth of some sort.

If you've watched AOE you know there is basically a Drone army, at least my interpretation was they were empty shells/husks. Controlled by Man via programming, software, joysticks and monitors. Galvatron ends up taking control of the army, but they are still just remote controlled. At least to me he was just directing them, but were they at all Sentient? They almost just seemed to be an extension of himself?

Galvatron doesn't seem to have a spark at anytime. So what is the relevance of a spark if he can be a fully functioning reborn evil. Even Prime comments on Galvatron being soulless.

Brains makes reference to Megatron's head still kicking and containing more information than the humans knew. Once again no spark attached to the head, but yet he could formulate a plan.

I thought Spark = Soul and was what gave Transformers life, without a spark they are just a cheap AI. I thought a spark was required.

Are we to believe that now the Brain/head is more important for survival and being rebuilt?

Is a spark just a Power source? that the Humans were able to replace?

    Color me confused.

I'm assuming Megatron's brain is still giving him sentience. This isn't the first time a version of Movie Megatron survived without his own Spark, in Titan's alternate 1st movie continuity, he survived by uploading his main conciousness to Starscream. And in other TF fiction, Transformers who upload their brains on to a computer or something are still there, they're just not alive.

And back in Foundation, it was shown that Hatchlings were the earliest stage of Transformer life, just after given life by the Allspark. Eventually they grow legs, and start getting bigger and bigger over time.

The aspect of a soul is utter bullshit that they made up to try to make Transformers seem different from human-built Transformers. Put simply, it falls apart because Galvatron (Megatron MKII) is able to emote and communicate without a soul and the aspect of Transformers having souls was not brought up until now.

Its trying to be deeper than it really is - and it doesn't work.

Any life weather organic or robotic can hav a soul if they believe I to be I guess lol. What I mean is te human body is essentially one massive battery or "spark" just as the TFs have a Sprak right? Yet we all believe we have a soul, even though science would argue that. It's no different with the TFs.

Think of a spark less transformer as a soulless human. A zombie with the brain function to do certain tasks (walk, speak, transform) yet lacking a sense of "it would be wrong to kill him" or "why am I doing this. Pretty much a soul gives us reason, character, and makes us who we are. Therefore, without one we can still function- zombie.

Geez, you'd probably wouldn't be saying this if Optimus just said "You have no spark."

well they always died in the movies as soon as their heads blew up or came off.

i think you have to accept that these are fantasy movies and for the benefit of a movie goers understanding they will be treated like humans in the sense of how they can live, die.

rules of origin are subject to change per movie.

They do mention sparks in the previous films though, which is the Cybertronian equivalent of a soul. Even showing that a Cybertronian dies if their spark is destroyed and needs to be restored in order to bring them back to life. Also, several of the cartoons and comics have shown drones with out sparks capable of emoting and communicating just like any Cybertronian that does have a spark. That's always been a somewhat hazy subject in the franchise, but still, a drone generally isn't considered to be truly sentient/alive due to it lacking a spark.
