I don't see what's so anger-inducing about his post. He says he's still thinking about the original VA's. Everything sounds cool to me. I'm always glad to hear progressive updates like this.:thumb

Why? He's being straightforward, honest, and informative.

In my opinion, Bay's words convey a general attitude of "Yeah, I know the fans exist, but seriously...anything I'm gonna do is gonna be SO MUCH BETTER THAN ANYTHING EVER, so I really don't care what the fans think." So that's relatively frustrating.

With Don Murphy, at least there's acknowledgement and understanding. With Bay, there's acknowledgement...but it's that type of fleeting acknowledgement that conveys that he doesn't give a shit.

...which he probably doesn't. He's in with the Pentagon, right? What does he care about a bunch of fans he already has a negative opinion about anyway?

    EDIT:

Here's the biggest thing for me: Having Cullen and Welker, at the least, do the voices is the one thing that the Transformers fandom seems to have voiced the same opinion on, en masse and vocally. As a fan of Transformers, it's been reassuring - and it made me proud - to know that my voice was being heard by the Hollywood scene as they adapted this film for the big screen. (No, not logically "my voice" individually, but my opinion, which matched that of the group opinion in this case.)

Bay's post, at least the way I read it, makes it sound as if this outpouring means nothing to him, which it probably doesn't. So that's frustrating to me. The one subject we've nearly unilaterally come together about on the Transformers movie is dodged with promises of vague adjectives concerning "visions" of "growth, change, improvement and surprises."

This gets on my nerves. I don't think he "respects the fandom" legitimately with a dodgy update like this one.

I dunno, sounds on point to me. Sounds like this is REAL now.

We all know this is not going to be what we want as fan boys. Our focus and hope now should be that it is cool on it's own, and that is has a solid amount of "nods" to us.

Key is, making it cool on it's own, without bastardizing it. And right now, we have NO info to say it will be, or wont be. So, we should try to keep our "this is gonna suck!" tendencies to a minimum.

I read this as good news. The LAST thing Bay HAS to do is give us fanboys the time of day. It's not in his job description, trust me.

The fact that he is talking to us is a good sign that he's hearing us and is considering our POV. That said, he doesn't have to do anything we want him to. He was hired by the people paying for the movie and they expect him to make the best movie he can. And like him or not, he's gonna do just that.

Will we get Cullen and Welker? I hope so. But if he feels that they aren't what the film needs, then what we say isn't going to matter. And I can make an educatted guess that his little plea for us to back off on the subject might be for the best right now.

Why? Cause he doesn't have to listen to us. And if we won't listen to him, why should he listen to us? hmmm :peoples:

Say goodbye to Cullen and Welker. This is what my gut feeling tells me.
I said it once and I'll say it again. I do want to stand corrected for this and I really really really hope that he will decide to use Cullen and Welker.

I demand we get the names of "The most religious of fans" that he showed the animatics and drawing to. I want to know what they've seen.

Sounds like he's definitely wanting to go with all new voices rather than plod around in old territory. It's definitely got a "hint hint" thing going. I don't really care, as long as the voices make sense.

Military support is good, perhaps we'll end up with some cool tank and helicopter TFs.

If anything I hope its a good sign that companies that design vehicles for the military(northrop grumman, boeing, lockheed, et al) are willing to let the company use their licenses for alt modes!

I know I am probably in the minority but I really like Bay's films. I own Armageddon (My wifes favorite movie of all time) Bad Boys 1 & 2, Rock, and Pearl Harbor all on DVD. I am also Big fan of Jerry Bruckheimer, I wish he was producing this film too, but back on subject I think Bay's films are good and full of action so I am not worried at all that this film will be great regardles of who is doing the voice acting. Well that's just my opinion. :thumbs2:

Just by the way things were descibed, it sounds like he regards Cullen, and Welker as a part of TF history, and wants to use someone else. I think the WRONG thing to do would be to be quiet about it. We need to continuously make the case that Welker, and Cullen would be the best voices (those of us that believe so).

Bay isn't the only one that is making this movie. He can be overruled on some things. If it is perceived that massive amounts of people want Cullen, and Welker, these other decision makers could overrule him.

So, keep talking people! The fact that he mentioned it shows that we are having some influence. It may not be what Bay wants, and maybe that's why he is saying, "Give it a rest." I can't think of any other reason why he would want us to keep quiet about it.

CULLEN, AND WELKER ALL THE WAY!!! (and other original voice actors)

They don't have the third act yet? How can you tell a story if you don't know what it's leading up to?

I bet the hard core fans he's shown stuff to are his little yes men Stooges (or their ilk). Hopefully it is mind blowing as he says... but I have a feeling it yet would live up to our imaginations.

.... as for the third act, from what I know so far... I don't see how it could be anything other than a battle with the Decepticons, with the military and Autobots working together to fight them. Taking place in the desert, on a highway, or the small town in which the story will surely be set.
