I've watched the trailer for Pacific Rim 3-4 times now. Looks amazing. If they can do that so well, who else thinks a BT movie would be something to see?

The one thing I can see holding it back would be the massive amount of backstory, but there's a ton of great fiction out there (particularly the Stackpole books) they could use for source material.

    Thoughts?

I would love a Battletech movie. Sadly Hasbro/WOTC seems to hate that franchise since they bought the liscense from the late FASA.

Some sort of mass-media epic, anyway. I don't know if the sort of long, drawn-out campaigns are suitable for a 2 hour format, especially with all the backstory. Maybe it can be Syfy's next Battlestar? :D

This thread is a reminder that I need to play more Mechwarrior Online.

Even if Hasbro realized they had a golden goose in their stable of liscenses, I bet Harmony Gold would throw a shitfit if they used anything that looked anything like the original mechs.

Blood of Kerensky story would fix that problem, all the Clan 'mechs are new designs, and they could use newer Inner Sphere designs that don't share Harmony Gold imagery.

I'm down for any new robot/mech movie as long as they're not designed like crappy movie Bay Transformers.

^ you know, i'd be down for more bay former designs too. just as long as the mech/robots, are actually the stars of the films.

i never had too much of a problem with the bay former designs. it was always the fact that the transformers are the supporting cast in their own movies that was the problem with me.

Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, what's so wrong with making one of THEM the lead? sure you have Sam in there. But you make the story based on the view of bumblebee, not Sam. that was the only real problem with the baymovies for me. that the transformers are not the stars of their own franchise.
