I'll be late to the party as usual. I just didn't get sold on this game on the Beta alone. It seems fun enough, but not enough of an improvement over BF2, which I still own. I'll probably wait and see how successful it is or if it's just the next flash in the pan game.

JDre and I played a couple matches together and got our Hanging with my Devil Dogs achievements. On mine we played Oasis. I operated the mortar cannon and racked up 500+ points. I DECIMATED the competition and came in first for the team. Next closest guy barely had 200 points. Bet the other team HATED me. I love the mortar cannon. Mwahahaha. Death from above!

Played the campaign demo for Xbox. Something about the aiming just feels weird...

And what the hell is with having no weapon switch button? Sure, I can toggle my grenade launcher on and off but do I even have a sidearm?

No, unless you have a sniper rifle, you do not have a sidearm.

I caved, traded some games, and got this one. It's a load of fun. The vehicle aspect makes it possibly better than *cough* the last war game that I played. I think I made a good decision. The single player story is actually not bad, so far. The multiplayer has potential, though I'm not that good at it yet.

I'd like to get at some point. I don't have any games right now that I want to trade in to get it. So it'll probably be about a month before I get in on the action outside of the demo.

I ended up getting rid of Rainbow Six: Vegas 1 and 2, Gears of War, and Transformers. None of those games hold much replay power with me. I ended up with quite a bit of credit too, which makes me feel like I won. I used some of the credit to get some drum silence pads for my Rockband drum set.

If you get the chance, rent this game or something. Try it out and send me an invite. I'll show you around.

Definitely. Heh, since moving up here I've yet to find a place to rent video games. I already traded in Transformers and Gears of War among others in for GTA IV.

I definatley like it more than MC. Its not my favorite Battlefield game but they have made it so players are forced to play together to get a good score. Unfortunatley that's still rare. I also like how vehicles can be powerfull yet easy to take down and scare drivers out, something that DICE had issues with in BF2 PC. Shotting is a bit weird, similar to MC where it didn't have much of a kick. Getting shot just feals like you're absorbing bullets like a sponge.

I'm also big on defense. I've always chose to stay at flags and defend them in classic BF games. Now half of the round is completley dedicated to defense. On the attacker side I usually snipe (as long as there's not 6 other snipers). I'm not doing much to help the team but I do take out armor pretty quickly and I'm noy draining the respawn gauge.

I got my two "find all 5 guns" that I care about! The one for assault and demo.

I find myself playing as demo alot in this because my team doesnt have much in ways of anti armor.

Okay, I've played the game long enough. Time for a review! :D

In EA's (Publisher) and DICE (Developer) Battlefield: Bad Company you play as Preston Marlow. Preston Marlow is in the United States army. Preston Marlow also happens in the Armys B company. The B, or Bad Company takes in criminals for front line cannon fodder. Bad Company goes in before the Marines or Special Forces so that way the other guys can look better. Marlow and his morally questionable friends encounter a group of mercenaries that're paid in gold bars and the Bad Company discovered at where the mercenary gold stash is. Like any good, no do-gooder the Company sets of an a destructive adventure to liberate the gold for themselves.

DICE is very proud of their new Frostbite engine. One of the game's primary features of the scale of destruction that can be done onto the environment. Many games claim to have full scale destruction, but most those claims are questionable. The amount of things blowing in Bad Company is impressive, but it's not full destruction or in some cases true destruction. You can blast open holes in many walls and destroy about any object despite how innocent it looks, like boxes, barrels and towers. A house will not be completely leveled however, you can blow out all the walls and the roof off, but the structure will still have it's now pathetic (as in it use to be such a nice house) structure remaining. This is more apparnt in multiple floor buildings, you can climb up to the 2nd floor of a house and walk around on it, but you have no overhead cover, or even any decent cover anyways. In a way the lack of the buildings being completly demolised provides a small benefit to DICE's new game, even though the buildings may have taken the maxium amount of destruction it has, it still provides to be a useful component in the games level, it could still be a useful sniper vantage point or a key sturcture on the map, it just doesnt happen to have anymore walls and it's really dusty.

Unlike the previous Battlefield games, Bad Company gives a more cinematic approach for it's single player. You play as Preston Marlow, not guy A who then dies and you're now guy B in a shoot em up with no plot. Marlow is thrown into a war against the Russians, but you'll never find out why America is at war the Russia, and that's fine. Bad Company's story is not about the political situation, it's about Marlow and his adventure of getting that gold. Enemy AI doesnt do many notable tactics or sense of teamwork but they are highly agressive. Most of the time you're onto the attack so the enemy is already in their defensive posistions. They avoid standing out in the open and will shoot through building windows, I get a sense of satisfaction when I blow apart the wall they where hiding behind, and they're good shots. Enemy snipers focus on concelment, again boom, and will shoot at you with you having no idea where they are. Unfortunately this game's light harted attitude doesnt take death serously either. What I mean by that is that when you die in this game you respawn back at the previous check point, the game does not load the checkpoint, you just appear there. The house that you blew apart is still in peices, and the three bad guys you killed are still dead. There's no logical reason for this either, except that maybe Marlow is a super zombie that cant stay down even from headshots, or he has a peice of the all spark wedged into his skull. The game constantly stays on this light hearted humor but then you're thrown into some really chaotic mess. The combat is loud and vicious, you'll be hiding behind walls trying to recover your health with a hypo-needle, only then get that wall blown apart and you have to run like crazy to the next set of cover, but then you may not care because you can just die and walk back in with no problems.

The controls are simple. You have your sprint, crouch, shoot, aim/zoom, knife attack, switch weapon or gizmo. The character feels like he moves a little slow, but all the other characters move at about the same speed as you and the sprint button does do it's job when you have to make a quick escape. Controlling vehicules is easy too, you have gas, brake, switch to 3rd or 1st person. If you're in a tank the 3rd person aiming crosshairs are not accurate and confusing, but I think that was intentional. When you aim on foot you look through the ironsights and your shots are more accurate. When you go into first person view of your tank the crosshairs are more accurate. Helicopter flying is so simple, that I thought it would be more complex and crashed my first time. When you're in a copter, you control the tilt, yaw, roll and altitude almost like other aircraft, but you should treat the helicopter also like a FPS because you can almost move it forward, back and side to side almost like on foot.

The game only features one mode of multiplayer, gold rush. There's two teams, the attackers and defenders. Attackers must go into the enemy base and destroy two gold stashes. Once those two gold stashes explode, the map expands, the attackers get more lives (more on that later). The defenders have to kill the attackers, the attackers have a limited number of lives to respawn while the defenders have an unlimitied amount. This is the only multiplayer mode for Bad Company (unless DLC provides otherwise, but this review is based out of the box). The role of the attackers is not impossible, but it's a difficult battle for them, primarly because once they destroy the 1st two crates of gold, the map expands and they have to destroy more crates, and more... and more. The defends have a major advantage in multiplayer and many battles are almost one sided. Multiplayer maps are large and spread out, providing vehicules a purpose of transportation and firepower.

It still follows a classed based fighting that all other Battlefield games have with Assault, Demolitions, Support, Specialist (spec ops), and Recon (sniper) kits. As you rank up you get a choice of unlocking new guns and equipment. There are a lot of badges and medals that award you based on your actions. You can judge a players style by see what awards he has achieved. Players can also get dog tags from their enemies by scoring knife kills.

The combat in this game is fun, loud and very rough but a few designer choices leave the game being questionable. The games destruction is really awsome and changes the way this game is played, I find that I can actually explore more of the map because of this. The destruction doesnt deliver 100% but it comes pretty close, a house will still be standing with all the floors to walk on, but the place will look like a mess. Battlefield veterans find a familarity with this game, but then get knocked off balance by the features that make this game stand out.

    Score 8 out of 10

I agree with the review the game has has a good base and hopefully the Multiplayer gets expanded on. Gold Rush is fun for a few matches but a True Deathmatch/Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag would be apperciated. Along with more maps and the ability to maybe hold more than one kit.

Have the game. Single Player=SUCK. Multiplayer=AWESOME.

I find that too many of the missions in single player revolve around the same shit of going to point A and destroying something. Really only the last 2 or 3 levels are good and don't ALWAYS feature the same objective.

Oh and really only one character outside the main character isn't absolutely annoying and repetitve and that's Haggard. Sweetwater never shuts the fuck up nearly uttering "I'M AFRAID I SEE SOME RUSSIANS!", every 3 seconds and I hate the Sarge simply because he's there to hand out the stupid and lame objectives.

And the A.I. SUCKS. Theres no such thing as stealth since they always no were you are. Also they don't use the destruction to there advantage at all. They crouch in the same position and fire.

Multiplayer is seriously awesome. Like seriously guys. So much variety. And I actually like all of the maps. The only real downside for me is the lack of teamchat. Oh and Gold Rush is practically the perfect game mode since I've yet to even yearn to just kill people. Here in BF:BC team work is actually necessary to win unlike other games. Needless to say I'll be playing this even though I've finished ranking up.

    OH MY GAWD.

If your ever playing multiplayer on "Deconstruction" and are on the Defenders side, as soon as you can spawn choose SUPPORT(if you have the Mortar strike). Sprint as fast as you can and aim at the giant gas tankers. I got 6 kills today and the "Strike" patch all in that one strike. When you blow up the tankers it will kill anyone by the tankers or that are running on the cat walks.

Yeah singleplayer sucks pretty bad. I rented the game on thursday and I beat it this morning barely playing the game.

This is definitely a game made for online play and not offline.

This. DICE still has a long way to go if they want people to buy this without Live.

Man i really like this one!

The online maps are too big for only 24 players. if i'm online it's only with COD4
