Free beta keys are available as well as ones to IGN subscribers. Finally got mine after missing the first batch.

I'm a huge Battlefield (pc) fan and am really looking forward to testing the newest one out.

    Beta Starts Tuesday march 25th.

Edit: Looks like the free keys are already gone!

I can't find any info on the "Gold Edition", I'd be tempted to get that knowing what it is and its price. As for buying the weapons themselves, I have never ever bought a single add on for a game except the Warhawk map/expansion on PS3. These weapons aren't going to make me change that philosophy.

Wow, why not just charge you to gain fucking levels. I hate how people can get away with that. This is why I refuse to purchase map packs. This way, the company will realise "Hey, people aren't buying it, so WHY NOT MAKE IT FREE?!"

So far its pretty sweet but also a bit to much like BF2: Modern Combat. By that I mean its just a tad bit too slow, they added a sprint but it doesn't seem like I move any faster and the weapons feal like BB guns.

The gameplay is the old pipelines style of game. Attackers and Defenders, the attackers need to destroy gold crates to move bases/spawns up to that point while having a limited amount of respawns while the defenders just kill people and deactivate explosives. Their bases move backwards as the defenders move forwards thus gaining or losing support vehicles/enplacements.

I do like it since it does make the game much more team-work focused but I do hope they stil linclude the classic BF Conquest game mode as well.

No jets which is fine by me since they have never found a way to balance them on BF2 PC.

    How's the destructibilty?
What vehicles are availible in the beta?
    How big are the maps?
How many shots to down a player?
    What weapons were availible?
Why am I asking so many questions?
    Because I want this game.

    1) Pretty cool but half weird too. Like in Previews floors can't be destroyed but walls can all be blown to bits. Its kind of hectic when you're in a building and the walls around you are just flying everywhere. Driving into a freestanding wall with a tank was cool, I knocked bits off the wall then my tank lifted up on and and slowly lowered as it collapsed under me, the bricks of the building I drove into after this all tumbled down in a realalistic manner.

    2) MBT (Abrams), Medium armor, Transport (Hummers and another lighter vehicle), Attack Helicopters

    3) Fairly big, theres one vehicle map and one infantry map in the beta. The vehicle map is pretty large (much larger than any CoD4 map abnout equal to the largest BF2MC maps) but the way the spawn system/objective works you dont have much incentive/chance to go exploring. Infantry map is set inside a nice medium sized town. Many buildings/houses and streets and alleys to go through.

    4) More than CoD but less than Halo

    5) Your typical modern weapons with random gear attached to each kit. I 've used support (saw) that comes with medic packs that can be held to heal or tossed down. Each kit has an alternate main weapon to be unlocked and a bonus gear like mortar for the support class.

Yes, haven't flown one yet though. Theres stationary AA turrets but theyre more flack/explosive so it takes some skill to bring one down but they're also not completley dominating.

Overall its pretty cool but if you didnt like Modern Combat then you probably won't like Bad company even though they're pretty different they still control the same. The spawn system is slighlty odd. You can either spawn at the closest point or with your squad. So you have your base and points A,B,C,D. At first you can only spawn at your base or point A. If the attackers capture the gold at point A then they will only spawn at point A and the defenders at point B and so on. The squads, I think, are automatically assigned as long as you pick the Squad spawn point. You don't have an actual squad leader as in BF2/2142 so you will spawn with any member in your squad, spawning into a group of your squad takes priority over single squadmates.

Also something that annoys me, Y button is set as the knife button. Press it and you equip the knife then press r trigger to use it. To get back to your weapons/equipment you have to press the RB or LB, its just odd since its treated like any other weapon but has its own button.

I'll update with better details/more coherency when I've had some sleep.

I tried to demo available on Xbox Live. Seems pretty cool. Still need to get used to the multiplayer.

Kind of. But I do appreciate being able to put a huge hole in a wall or collapse a roof on someone.

I tried out the demo and enjoyed it rather a lot. I'll probably get it.
